What You'll Do
Mount roll of material on machine shafts, re-roll and inspect material while rewinding, and measure material to desire lengths.
Start machine and observe flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and winding.
Responsible for maintenance and some repairs of rewind machine.
Operate slitter, placing correct dimensions and specification into the computer.
Fill orders for zone tape, sponge, and tubing.
Clean and maintain work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
Inventory management of materials and finished goods in the converting area
Correctly completes all inventory transactions in the ERP system.

The Production Worker reports to the manufacturing supervisor and is responsible for operating basic machines and deburring, or light assembly, in an industrial setting. The position works under close supervision, limited decision-making and limited contact with external suppliers or customers.
What you will be doing
Physical Activity:
Moderate physical activity requiring agility and dexterity, including walking, standing, or bending; and lifting or moving objects.
Work is performed in an area with moderate risk or discomfort that may require special safety precautions, such as wearing protective clothing or gear.
May be required to pass Near Vision and/or Color Vision examinations.
Clean and maintain measuring instruments and test equipment; treat and inspect/test parts (e.g., routed and deburring operations) per applicable work instructions.
Communicate information to others about project status, updates, specific instructions, etc. and review item status in MRP and ensure item is logged/closed out based on its current status.
Complete and review product paperwork, verifying all paperwork is present and filled out appropriately and complete computer entries accurately and in a timely manner.
Document nonconformance and dispositions using nonconformance forms.
Follow all departmental safety rules and regulations and put on all appropriate safety gear and clothing/protection required by work activities.
Measure and inspect dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers (as required).
The following functions apply based on the designated area (e.g. Deburring). Note: these do not apply at Woodward Santa Clarita
Member in Deburring may be required to perform tasks such as wash deburred hardware; remove sharp edges and excess material from hardware using necessary tools, such as files, scrapers, picks, and rubber tools; perform visual inspection of deburred hardware, looking for missed burrs and edges or damages; post clean hardware per applicable work instructions; deburr hardware with simple geometry and minimal critical features (e.g., .001 max. corner breaks, cylindricity; tight diametrical tolerances); deburr hardware with a limited number of features; buff and polish deburred hardware.
Members in Light Assembly may be required to perform tasks such as STI installation, heat and freeze processing, part marking, Lee plug assembly, bonding, PIND testing; applying Molykote, performing pressure wash/flush, operating air oven, swaging, flaring; Loctite (bonding), leak testing, general assembly, riveting, staking; operating arbor press, hydraulic press, spring checker, gauge lap, hand lap, center lap and deburring. Clean and organize the immediate work area.
Interpret and follow blueprints for proper production task completion.
May be required to obtain certification as necessary per function requirements.
May perform tasks related to NDT, machinist, and mechanical assembler positions.
Perform limited preventative maintenance to ensure machines and equipment run smoothly and notify supervisors of production or machine problems.
Verify the calibration of equipment and expiration dates.

As a Production Operator, your job responsibilities will include, but not limited to preparing and blending of raw materials; operating mixers and extruders; moving, loading and unloading materials by manual lifting and by using pallet jacks and forklifts; cutting/trimming; packaging finished product for shipment; and maintaining an accurate log/record.

Reporting to the Operations Manager and on Shift Team Lead, the Production Operator will be responsible for mixing chemical compounds to form tiles, adding coloration, setting up various equipment that sizes, grinds, handles and transports tiles through forming, shaping, heating, drying, and packaging for warehousing or customer shipment.
JOB DUTIES:
Perform operator PM's; utilization of the computer control systems; perform cold start-ups and shutdowns; assist with die changes; perform daily walk through.
Work the material control panel and related equipment
Input formulas for mixing the tile's raw materials
Maintain appropriate levels of raw materials so that work processing runs continuously
Add in defined levels/weights of pigments for controlling colors and pattern schedules
Understand and adhere to daily production schedules
Properly grind and store materials for the sizing and grinding operations
Acquire mastery of the sizing systems components, limitations, and use
Ensure that quality standards are achieved, and rework is minimized
Understand how to use the elevator loads and procedures for moving products
Safety - always follow all safety guidelines: complete monthly safety training; know and use PPE equipment as required; locate, read, and understand MSDS'; follow job safety analysis procedures, follow LOTO rules, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Operates and performs changeovers on the lines/equipment within required timelines and demonstrates the ability to consistently meet safety, quality and efficiency goals. Follows work instructions, standards and SOP's for equipment set up and changeover. Identifies and resolves issues during set up and changeover.
Prepares work area at beginning of shift and cleans up work area at end of shift and/or at end of production run to ensure area is ready for next job. Cleans or sanitizes all food contact surfaces between changes of product. Ensures availability of all required materials and supplies, using the appropriate lift trucks, hand jacks and other equipment once certifications are achieved.
Operates equipment, including troubleshooting and making adjustments in accordance with established work standards. Cleans and assembles equipment according to standard operating procedures.
Conducts quality checks at regular intervals; inspects ingredients and finished product to ensure product is processed according to specifications.
Truthfully and legibly completes required paperwork, written and electric reports. (i.e. Excel, Word, PCDA, Oracle, etc.).
Reduces downtime by assuring tasks are performed promptly, safely and efficiently.
Performs operator scheduled maintenance checklist.
Diagnoses and performs minor machine maintenance and makes any needed adjustments. Works closely with maintenance when escalation to maintenance is needed for a mechanical issue.

Assists coworkers set up machine and stacks, marks, packs, and transports finished product.
Processing Area:
Examines product for identity and any impurities. Weighs out ingredients as listed using scales with printers and mixes ingredients, using appropriate mixing method, carefully and thoroughly.
Follows batch instructions on BPR or deviation to meet desired specification via use of reactors, blenders, mixers, fitzmill, metal detector, sifter, roller compactor, rotary press, oscillating granulator, tote tumbler, lift truck, hand jack and other equipment. Notifies supervisor, lead or R&D of any concerns with instructions on BPR or deviation.
Records all item and lot number information on production ticket. Documents and updates mix tickets and log book, ensuring that all information is written truthfully and legibly. Enters all information into computer system for tracking and accountability purposes, ensuring that all information is correct.
Lifts and places raw materials into appropriate tote or tank equipment or mixers via automatic or manual lifting. Properly labels bulk containers, mixes etc.
Keeps Quality Control and Research & Development departments informed, to ensure correct amounts of raw materials are used and to recommend improvements to existing products.
