The Composite Fabricator II works closely with engineering staff, technicians, and vendors/suppliers in the fabrication of tooling, structures, and components utilizing a variety of materials.
Responsibilities
Follows design drawing instructions and written process instructions
Works with Engineering in performing fabrication and assembly tasks as well as resolving tooling issues
Works with and fabricates tooling, fixtures, jigs, etc. from one or more materials
Operates hand/power tools (e.g., jitterbug, dotco) for cutting or trimming, as required
Works with materials to perform bonding/curing (e.g., thermal plastic, rubber, resins, adhesives) in the experimental layup process, as required.
Uses precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, scales, micrometers) to check work performed
Adheres to all safety requirements
Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature, following established procedures on routine work
Applies acquired job skills and company policies & procedures to complete assigned tasks under minimal supervision

The duration of the eligible list/score report resulting from this examination process will be of 12 months and may be extended with the approval of the Director of Transportation.
Medical Examination/Drug Testing: Candidates who are being considered for appointment for positions which may be required to pass a medical examination. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has determined that Class 7366 Transit Power Line Worker is a “safety-sensitive” position, under regulations issued by the Federal Transit Administration (49 CFR Part 655). Each applicant will also be required to provide SFMTA with information regarding whether, during the last two years, the applicant tested positive or refused to test on any pre-employment drug or alcohol test administered by an employer to which the applicant applied for, but did not obtain, safety-sensitive transportation work covered by DOT drug and alcohol testing rules. SFMTA will not hire any applicant for a safety-sensitive position who fails to provide this information or fails to provide written consent for the release of information from prior employers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. All Operators must be flexible to operate multiple processes/tools, as versatility is key to Production.
Operate production equipment to meet daily targets for quality and efficiency.
Set up, run, and reset machines based on work orders and customer requirements.
Perform basic quality checks and report any equipment issues or material defects.
Prepare and handle materials using tools like scissors, tweezers, and safety knives.
Load/unload materials, track inventory, and manage in-process products (WIP).
Safely operate pallet jacks and other industrial equipment (training provided).
Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
Report safety concerns, incidents, or near misses immediately.
Enter job and inventory data into our internal systems accurately.
Collaborate with your team to improve processes and keep production flowing.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Previous production operations, material handling, or technician experience within a manufacturing or warehouse comparable environment is preferred but not required.
Ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Eagerness to expand skillset; Want to be a technician or engineer one day? This is your chance!
Command of the English language, both written and verbal, is strongly preferred.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Punctuality and a professional, can-do attitude are a must.
Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, or hearing.
Open to schedule flexibility that will allow for a variety of shifts as needed. Ability to change schedule on short notice as required.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
May be required to wear PPE, including but not limited to eye protection (safety glasses/goggles), hearing protection, head protection (bump caps and/or hard hats), safety toe shoes, gloves, hair nets, masks, clean-room frocks, or more, while adhering to the prescribed safety procedures.
