Professional Educator job description

The Director oversees the advancement of the professional development programs, in alignment with the CNO and the organizational Strategic Plans.

In collaboration with clinical and administrative leadership, this Director will be responsible for overseeing activities within the Nursing Division related to clinical education, professional nursing practice, research, care delivery systems, evidence-based practice, and nursing outcomes improvement.

The incumbent may also serve as Magnet Program or Pathway Program Director and coordinate efforts to maintain designation and achieve compliance with all ANCC Program requirements.

The Director will take a leadership role in overseeing nursing professional development programs; supporting the application of evidence-based practice; and defining innovative strategies to build a culture of clinical excellence and reliable care. In addition the Director will be pivotal to promoting nursing research and shared governance within the organization.

Recommends changes in behavioral and organizational practices that are critical to the development of a professional practice milieu.

Assesses need and evaluates current and future professional nursing and future professional nursing practices at Augusta Health.

Plans, organizes, directs and controls all activities required to continually gain and sustain award designation.
Oversees the Nursing Professional Development Program (Clinical Ladder Program). Leads the nursing strategic planning process and is accountable for developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating plans for Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) and the transformation of clinical care. Supports and oversees shared governance.
Education Requirements
BSN required and current Master's in a related field or enrolled in MSN program. Current RN licensure in the state of Virginia.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of 5 years nursing experience required with experience developing and conducting education programs, planning, organizing and managing complex function and processes, project management, and knowledge of Shared Governance.
Skill Requirements
Prior management experience preferred. Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate in a positive, consistent, enthusiastic, and open manner. Demonstrates knowledge of hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines. Shows commitment to Augusta Health, patient care and the community. Demonstrates leadership qualities/abilities. Demonstrates ability to create and maintain internal and external relationships necessary to effectively accomplish job-related goals and objectives. The office of Student Success is looking for a Senior Educational Program Specialist to provide support to Project Director. This position is Sponsor Funded*** and will manage recruitment and selection of applicants via presentations to schools and community organizations.

Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and target school personnel observing policies, regulations, and procedures established by the U.S. Department of Education.

Provide assessment and monitoring of program participants, including assessment of participant's academic needs and academic potential. Manage tutoring program for participants.

Coordinate college preparatory services (educational, cultural, and financial) for program participants.

Facilitate seminars and enrichment activities regarding post-secondary information and enrollment via Saturday Sessions, simulated activities, and college tours.
Obtain, maintain, and evaluate participants' educational records and database.
Visit target schools and provide academic advising sessions to participants. Also, provide information for participants and parents regarding high school completion and the college enrollment process. Manage and supervise part-time student workers including tutors and summer staff. Also, provide guidance to temporary employees regarding program policies. Assist in the training and assignment of activities to ensure success of project goals. Work non-traditional hours (some weekends/evenings) with the willingness to be flexible during Saturday Sessions, the Summer Enrichment Program, and field trips. Assist with the implementation of campus activities, cultural events, and other programs. Attend all project events and functions. Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Director.

The Professional Fee Coding Educator (CE) is responsible for providing education and training for physicians, staff, and other providers on professional fee coding and clinical documentation standards. The CE will conduct coding quality reviews, analyze findings, and provide follow-up education to coding staff and providers;will outline and annotate applicable laws and coding compliance mandates applicable to the coding being reviewed and provide written and verbal teaching, training, or policies to affected parties. The CE must be facile and knowledgeable of all applicable billing and coding regulations and be able to effectively communicate these regulations to all levels of faculty, management and staff.
Required Qualifications



Must be a Certified Professional Coder in good standing with AAPC or AHIMA, and must maintain yearly credits to ensure certification Seven (7) or more years of demonstrated coding experience; with training experience or equivalent combination of education and experience Must be able to pass all classes related to the UCSF Medical Center's computer systems as well as related UCSF coding and billing applications. May include off-site billing systems from partner hospitals Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10 coding conventions, and clinical documentation requirements Prior experience in healthcare-related setting Knowledge of Federal, State, and Commercial carrier's coding and billing standards Strong analytical and communication skills



Preferred Qualifications



Prior working knowledge of the EPIC (Apex) system Prior supervisory experience Secondary certification in professional coding subspecialty or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) certification BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in health care or physician practice operations This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations



License/Certification


Certified Professional Coder in good standing with AAPC or AHIMA
