As a Surgical Technician, you use your knowledge of anatomy, patient needs and departmental procedures to prepare for and manage surgical cases at ProMedica.
You will ensure sterile field integrity by using aseptic techniques and addressing any breaks in sterile technique quickly.
Teamwork is key in this role as you work with the circulating nurse to keep an accurate count of sponges, instruments and sharps in accordance with department guidelines.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
Participates in planning, implementing, and evaluating surgical instrumentation during the operative procedure.
Collects instruments, packs, and extra supplies for assigned surgical procedure. Opens supplies and sets up operating room, along with the RN circulator. Scrubs, gowns, and sets up sterile field. Anticipates physicians' instrumentation and equipment needs during the operative procedure. Provides for same. May cut suture and hold retractors. Takes sponge, needle, and instrument counts according to policy and procedure.
Demonstrates knowledge of surgical asepsis and utilizes appropriate sterile procedures, including but not limited to developing and maintaining a sterile field.
Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures routinely performed, including but not limited to ophthalmology, orthopedics, general surgery, gynecology, urology, ENT, podiatry, and oral surgery. Demonstrates understanding of sequencing of surgical procedures.
Demonstrates knowledge of specific uses of surgical instrumentation and equipment, appropriate utilization of supplies, counting procedures, anticipation of physician needs by passing instrumentation, helping to maintain and visualize the operative field including sponging, retraction, camera function and cutting suture as directed.
Demonstrates knowledge to assist the post anesthesia and/or the circulating nurse, if assigned.
Supplies dressings appropriately and assists the surgical team in patient transfer from surgical bed.
Removes instrument and supplies to proper area. Demonstrates knowledge to clean/process instruments and equipment as indicated. Cleans as indicated. Cleans and restocks area, as needed.
Safeguards hospital supplies, property, and equipment from damage, misuse, or loss.
Efficiently uses supplies and inventory.
Understands level of independent practice and performs with appropriate supervision.
Performs other related duties as assigned, including covering the operating room desk functions and central sterile activities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of a school of surgical technology.
Skills: Ability to pass competencies of the position according to the job description, evaluation, and departmental policies.
Certification: Certification achieved within two years of the employee's date of hire. CPR certified.

The Department of Psychology at Baldwin Wallace University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position beginning in Fall of 2026. A PhD degree is required; however, candidates who have not yet had their degree conferred (i.e., ABD) may be considered with an expected completion of the degree within the first year of employment. All areas of specialization will be considered, yet special consideration will be given to applicants with the ability to develop community partnerships and/or service learning opportunities involving students. The position will start August 1, 2026.
We are primarily a teaching University and are looking for applicants with well-developed teaching skills. Faculty members teach a total of 21-24 credit hours per academic year. The successful applicant will be expected to teach applied courses that engage students in the Greater Cleveland community. This could be through a service learning course, internship course, or applied research course in the field. They would also be expected to teach any of our required courses, including Intro to Psychology, Statistics, SPSS, Research Methods and Thesis, in addition to a lower level topical seminar. They also may be asked to develop new courses in their area of specialization.
The Psychology Department currently has 7 full-time members representing the main sub-disciplines in the field. The Psychology major is one of the largest majors on campus, and the department is housed in the Neal Malicky Center for the Social Sciences, which has dedicated research space for human research. Faculty members involve undergraduate students in their research program. The successful candidate will engage in an active program of applied research (either on campus or off campus with a healthcare/nonprofit/ community agency partner) where undergraduates will be able to improve their skills and make meaningful contributions.
All faculty members serve as academic advisors and participate in a shared governance system. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and growing department that supports undergraduate programs in media production and visual arts and will play a key role in launching and shaping our new Sports Media major. The Department seeks an innovative and student-centered teacher-scholar with expertise in sports media production, sports journalism, and/or sports communication. We are looking for a colleague who can effectively teach students how to analyze, critique, and create impactful sports content across multiple platforms, and who will contribute to building a vibrant, professionally oriented undergraduate program.
Responsibilities
* Teach introductory and advanced courses in Sports Media, including live event production, multimedia sports storytelling, sports journalism, and emerging industry practices in fan experience.
* Support the continued development of the Sports Media curriculum and its integration within the broader Visual Arts and Media programs.
* Develop upper-level electives that support departmental needs and align with the candidate's expertise.
* Establish networks to develop experiential opportunities for students outside of Mount Union, and ongoing consultation to assure curricular relevance.
* Teach core courses in the media major as needed.
* Advise and mentor students, supporting their academic and professional goals in the rapidly evolving sports media industry.
* Maintain an active program of creative, scholarly, or professional work involving undergraduate students when possible.
* Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and campus engagement.
Qualifications
Applicants with a Ph.D. in Sports Media, Journalism, Communication, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a master's degree and significant professional experience in sports media production, broadcasting, or sports journalism will also be considered. A strong commitment to excellence in liberal arts undergraduate education is expected.

* Professional experience in live sports broadcasting, sports journalism, content creation, or digital media production.
* Strong technical skills in live event workflows, field and studio production, editing, and audio engineering.
* Ability to teach both conceptual frameworks and hands-on production practices.
* Excellent communication and mentorship skills.
* Previous teaching experience at the college level.

Minimum Qualifications
* PhD or EdD in CSD or closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. The appropriate terminal degree must be completed by August 1, 2026. Persons who are ABD will be hired at the rank of Instructor;
