What You'll Learn & Do
As a Maintenance Technician Trainee, you'll be working alongside seasoned maintenance professionals, gaining real-world experience in maintaining and troubleshooting advanced manufacturing equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance on conveyors, motors, pumps, valves, and hydraulic systems.
Conduct vibration analysis and thermal imaging to predict equipment failures.
Work with lubrication systems to maintain production equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Troubleshoot three-phase motors, motor controls, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
Work with steam boilers, refrigeration systems, and ammonia-based cooling systems.
Gain hands-on experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
Assist in diagnosing automation system issues using SCADA and industrial networking.
Perform welding and fabrication for minor equipment repairs and modifications.
Enter maintenance data and track equipment history in SAP or another CMMS software.
Support installation, setup, and commissioning of new processing and packaging equipment.
Work on projects involving robotic automation and advanced processing technology.
Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives to enhance equipment efficiency.
Follow OSHA safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and food safety (GMP, HACCP) protocols.
Learn arc flash safety and work in high-voltage environments safely and effectively.
This is a structured training program with direct mentorship, on-the-job learning, and exposure to industry-leading maintenance practices that will set you up for long-term career success.

This is a grant funded position and continuation is subject to the availability of funds. Reports to the Clinical Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manages, coordinates, develops and implements services and support for the specific needs of individuals recovering from mental health, substance use and co-occurring disorders; monitors and ensures provided services are comprehensive, well developed and maintained according to the requirements of the grant. Documents accomplishments, the effectiveness of services provided, and status of program services according to the requirements of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program.
Provides consultation to individuals to assess their social, health and vocational needs; supervises outreach and, ensures follow up efforts for non-compliant individuals are administered; identifies adverse impacts to clients and provides intervention measures and assists with client's discharge plans.
Consults regularly with therapist, staff members and medical staff to discuss individuals' progress; attends and participates in case reviews and core service meetings; and serves as facilitator for support groups; ensures compliance with state and federal requirements; and advocates for additional resources and services as needed.
Supervises ACT clinical staff, assistants, aides and relief staff; completes staff evaluations according to agency supervision policy; develops and implements policies and practices for the development of clinical staff and clinical supervisions; participates in staffing, and chairs case reviews to ensure team approach; and reviews assessments of potential consumers to determine whether to recommend acceptance for admission.
Ensures staff adheres to all regional, federal and state regulations.
Responsible for staff development and training, succession planning, performance management, employee relations, and prioritizing and assigning work; conducts interviews, assigns cases and completes employee evaluations. Conducts staff meetings and/or coordinates in-service training, new hire orientation and training.
Works with other agencies, organizations and the general public to coordinate services, provide technical guidance and educate individuals and community on client rights, needs and related topics. Serves as point of contact for the for all inquiries regarding the ACT Program Grant.
Responsible for emergency operations activities for grant program clients to include, but not limited to, emergency shelter operations and disaster relief activities as necessary.

Requires a Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Human Services or a related field, and 3 - 5 years of experience developing and implementing individual service plans for individuals recovering from mental health, substance use and cooccurring disorders; and 1 - 3 years of experience supervising staff in a community mental health setting; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Eligible LCSW or LPC in the State of Virginia.
An acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check and sex offender registry check.
A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Individuals in this position cannot be listed as having a founded child abuse or neglect complaint.
In the event of a declared emergency in the city of Portsmouth, individuals in this position are required to work shelter duty and may be called on to perform duties as required to provide for the safety and care of the citizens of the community.

Assists in the determination of the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) and coordinates the execution of the HAP contracts between the property owner and the Authority.
Monitors participants transfer needs for the appropriate size and type of units.
Requests Housing Quality Standards inspections as required.
Prepares statistical reports and assists the Director with special projects as requested.
Keeps apprised of all pertinent housing legislation.

Position Requirements
Thorough knowledge of Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) established certification processes.

The Program Specialist for the BASE Program supports the daily operations and activities of this short-term, intensive behavior redirection program for elementary students (K-3) who require differentiated social-emotional and academic supports to achieve success and transition back to their home schools. The specialist works collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, families, and community partners to ensure high-quality instruction, positive behavior supports, and consistent implementation of intervention strategies. This role monitors student progress, coordinates support services, and promotes alignment with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL), accreditation requirements, and the NNPS Strategic Plan. The Program Specialist also provides coaching and guidance to staff, facilitates communication across schools and families, and assists with planning and transitions to ensure students receive safe, structured, and effective learning experiences that foster both academic and behavioral growth.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)
The Program Specialist must possess a Master's Degree and a Virginia Postgraduate Professional License or be eligible for Virginia licensure. A minimum of three years of successful full-time teaching experience at the elementary level is required, with experience in alternative education, behavior intervention, or a related leadership or support role preferred. An endorsement in Administration and Supervision PK-12 is preferred but not required. The specialist must successfully complete Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training, including restraint certification, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students from diverse behavioral, academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Strong skills in collaboration, coaching, and building positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners are essential.

Monitors student learning and behavior plans to ensure needs are met through differentiated instruction and supports.
Works with principals and central office staff to coordinate services, address concerns, and support program improvement.
Facilitates communication with families and community partners to reinforce positive student behavior and engagement in learning.
Supports budget and resource management for program operations under the direction of program leadership.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of one year full-time related experience with social services. Auditing experience preferred.
