**Responsibilities**
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is seeking ambitious, high-caliber students for assignments within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) WIRED (Workforce opportunities to Increase Research Engagement and Diversity) Program, administered by PNNL. DHS WIRED is a student/early career development program that is a partnership between PNNL and DHS to engage Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI), and other Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) to provide research-based experience for students who are traditionally underrepresented in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) majoring in both STEM and non-STEM focused fields.

These positions will be scheduled for 10-12 weeks during the summer of 2025, dates will vary depending on semester versus quarter schools. Positions are placed primarily in Richland, WA but could also be conducted remotely from student location.

Minimum Qualifications:
+ Candidates must be currently enrolled/matriculated in a PhD program at an accredited college.

Preferred candidates will be pursuing graduate degrees at an MSI in one of the following focus areas:
+ Analytics: Disciplines of interest - political science, healthcare sciences, public policy and international relations, criminal justice, and policy analysis.
+ Biology/Chemistry: Disciplines of interest - biology, radiochemistry, and actinide chemistry.

What will your typical day look like?
Assist TA's with coordinating and providing instruction on key programs and procedures related to locomotive maintenance/modifications
Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to create repair opportunities in the shop and to gain access to craftsman labor force
Work as part of a cross functional team, driving a "one team" focus, dedicated to customer success within the shop
Begin completing the various Wabtec Level 1 Locomotive Online Training courses
Begin completing Level 1 TA OJT tasks
Learn to navigate Wabtec eServices, catalogs, schematics, and other various resources
Gain understanding of emission standards and emission critical components
Completing various short-term projects given by Shop manager
All other duties as required

You may have heard Lainey on the KGHL radio before, but this time she is back to do an internship with the Ag Broadcasting Crew. During her time at Northern Ag, Lainey will produce radio and tv broadcasts, providing ag news and market information to Montana, Wyoming and the Dakotas.
**Family Background**
Lainey is the daughter of Jason Kitzmann, a farm kid from North Dakota, and Kristi Roberts from small town Belfry, Montana. She falls in between her two older and two younger sisters. After living in different parts of Montana, Lainey and her family planted roots in Yellowstone County where she attended Billings Senior High. She finished out her last two years at the to take her agriculture education courses.

Lainey's passion for agriculture started when she was just a little girl. She attributes much of her inspiration to her grandparents, Sharon and Jerry Kitzmann, who farmed near the iconic Holstein cow in New Salem, North Dakota. Lainey's favorite parts of visiting the farm were helping her grandpa feed, check cows, being the passenger princess in the tractor, and assisting her grandma in the garden. Her passion only grew as she spent her high school summers working full time at , her family friends' aquaponic greenhouse and outdoor garden, as a larger scale vegetable farmer and helping at their angus beef cattle operation producing local beef.

Lainey helped with reactivation of the chapter that had been dormant for over thirty years under the advisory of Joylynn Petrosky. She says, “It was an honor to be the first person to compete for Billings, Montana at the National FFA Convention after all those years.”

When not in school, Lainey enjoys photography. She loves capturing family's, portraits, and doing creative projects, so keep an eye out for. **Education**
After studying as a National Exchange Student at the University of Hawaii this past fall, Lainey is wrapping up her last three semesters at Montana State University where she is obtaining a degree in Agriculture Communications and Business Entrepreneurship Upon graduating in 2025, she intends to remain in Montana, dedicating her career to advocating for agriculture while pursuing her aspirations in photography.

Logan Health is seeking two dedicated and motivated students for our Surgical Technologist Internship Program for 2025. This program is designed for students from Missoula College, Great Falls College, and Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC) who are entering their final semester of surgical technology training.

Key Responsibilities:
Complete clinical rotations as a Surgical Technologist intern from January through May 2025.
Participate in 24 hours per week of hands-on scrub tech training within the operating room.
Dedicate 8 hours per week to department training, including Central Sterile, core technician roles, perioperative support technician training, and overall hospital orientation.
Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Rate: $19/hour for a total of 32 hours per week.
Employment Commitment: Accepted interns will commit to a 2-year employment agreement with Logan Health.
Transition to Full-Time: Successful completion of the internship will lead to a full-time Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) position in the operating room.

Properly utilizes surgical instruments to assist the surgeon during the procedure.
Participates in counts prior to, during and the end of a procedure per department procedures.
Provides care to the patient in the application of dressings and while transferring the patient to the recovery area.
Checks assigned specialty non-stock and stock supplies to ensure an adequate quantity is available for procedures per department protocol.
