  • Program Coordinator - Psychology (Hybrid)

    Richmond Behavioral Health has a new opportunity for a highly skilled and professional Marcus Alert Coordinator II to join our team of dedicated Life Changers! The individual selected will perform difficult professional and administrative work organizing and coordinating responsibilities associated with the Marcus Alert and its implementation in Region 4 CSBs/BHA. Works closely with Region 4 leadership, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, Department of Criminal Justice Services and stakeholders across law enforcement, public service answering point/emergency communications, behavioral health, developmental services, and racial equity. Ensures requirements of legislation are met including: community engagement and input, evaluation, conducting surveys of existing services and programs and implementation of the written plan and logic model for the Marcus Alert system, outlined by the state and each locality. Coordinates and plans within and between state, regional, and local aspects of Virginias behavioral health crisis system, working with each locality to communicate minimum standards, best practices, and model protocols regarding emergency dispatch and police reform at the local/law enforcement agency level when responding to a behavioral health crisis; supports planning for five initial implementations and plans for the evaluation and monitoring of the initiative over time, and the incorporation of evaluation findings into the development of the program over time. Work is performed under the general direction of the assigned Director or Manager. Essential Functions Develops Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on all protocols and the urgency triage framework tied to development of local Marcus Alert plans. Develops SME on policies and practices including emerging and promising related to Marcus Alert implementation among key stakeholders: PSAPs, law enforcement, behavioral health. Develops relationships with and facilitates information sharing among key stakeholders responsible for protocol and process development: behavioral health/CSB, PSAP, law enforcement, call center, mobile crisis response. Develops and models cross system collaborative relationships with a broad group of stakeholder organizations and the community to meet Marcus Alert goals, including BIPOC and peer organizations. Serves as key point of contact for Marcus Alert system which involves coordinating stakeholder groups to meet deliverables, develops strategic communication approaches to help individuals understand complex information around behavioral health and diversity Participates in local efforts to promote and educate communities on initiatives and cross-system crisis services through awareness campaigns, public relations, community forums, town hall meetings, schools, etc. Prepares presentations and coordinates communitywide speaking engagements around Marcus Alert system Develops a communication plan to update community stakeholders on regional findings related to mental health, law enforcement, social services, racial equity, and social justice stakeholders from regional catchment areas Follows best practices nationally around innovative police-mental health collaborations, including behavioral health only and co-responder models. Is aware of general trends in law enforcement and analyzes the potential impact on Marcus Alert legislation. Serves as liaison between state, region, and localities around Marcus Alert implementation. Gives and receives technical assistance, as appropriate. Serves as liaison with regional Equity at Intercept 0 partner(s) and maintains awareness of progress with state-supported equity projects Monitors data, data reporting among partners/stakeholders, submits data and reports as required. Assists with data issues that arise between call center, DBHDS data platform and Marcus Alert data reporting. Makes recommendations for contractual agreements with partner organizations to build client capacity and programs Works closely with leadership and Coordinator peers across regions to leverage new collaborations that address identified need Attends various clinical or professional trainings and in-services, including advance Marcus Alert training when available. Participates in regional and State meetings regarding development and status of programs. Provides consultations and training as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Comprehensive knowledge of services, benefits and programs available for clients and ability to assess and restructure delivery of same to meet client needs; thorough knowledge of principles of behavior management training, crisis intervention and prevention; thorough knowledge of law enforcement entities and public safety answering points, CIT programs, and Community Services Boards; thorough knowledge of evidence-based practices in behavioral health, racial equity, or reform/change processes; comprehensive knowledge of State and local licensure requirements, Medicaid regulations, confidentiality and consumer rights; ability to interpret and apply regulations; ability to maintain detailed records;; ability to communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing; experience with data-driven decision making; experience creating, administering, and interpreting surveys using online tools; ability to establish effective working relationships with associates, subordinates, medical professionals, community partners, clients and the general public. Position Requirements Education and Experience Bachelor's degree with coursework in social work, psychology, counseling, community development, criminal justice, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's preferred. 3-5 years' experience with project planning, implementation, and management, preferably with dual behavioral health and law enforcement focus. Ability to demonstrate use of evidence-based and data-informed practices in behavioral health, racial equity, or reform/change processes preferred. Special Requirements .Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Travel within Region 4 required.
