The person who accepts this role will not only work closely with our Director of Engineering, but they will also benefit from full exposure to the inner workings and decision making challenges of an early stage startup. They will inevitably be called upon to contribute to significant decisions that impact the technical direction of the company. They should also be willing and able to grow into a technical or people management role as the engineering team grows. This role will: Work alongside the Director of Engineering and other DOCSI engineers to expand and maintain our software solution. Design and build new user experiences that streamline the complex and confusing process of managing surgical waste. Inform the creation of machine learning tools to amplify the quality of surgical waste reduction recommendations. Create seamless data pipelines and integrations that enable our highly scalable, always available platform. Influence and guide critical design discussions that determine the future direction of our product. Gain access and connections to key members of the Twin Cities startup community. Help shape the culture of a new and growing engineering team. Minimum Qualifications: 4+ years of experience working as a software engineer or similar role Experience in web development with one or more of the following languages/frameworks: PHP, React, Python, Java Expertise working with relational database systems such as MySQL or PostgreSQL Demonstrable experience leading technical projects from start to finish (with or without assistance from other team members) An understanding of building systems to scale with large, often inconsistent data imports Action driven self-starter who enjoys improving existing processes A lifelong learning mindset with a desire to explore new ideas and connect them to their work Ability to work in an often ambiguous, fast-paced environment Bonus Qualifications: Previous work with PHI or other sensitive data.
