Job Description Project Overview: The conservation department of the Cleveland Museum of Art welcomes applications for a preprogram 6-8 week summer internship in Preventive Conservation for 2026. The intern will join a collaborative and convivial team in caring for, studying, and treating objects from the Museum's encyclopedic collection. The CMA maintains a full schedule of loans, rotations, and exhibitions, with associated assessment, documentation, and treatment needs. The Conservation department is also committed to ongoing research and investigation of objects in the collection. The Conservation department prioritizes participation in education and outreach programs and ensures that the intern will have the chance to present their work to public audiences and share conservation activities on social media. Projects underway in the lab during summer 2026 may include: exhibition maintenance for Martin Puryear: Nexus; maintenance of three dimensional artworks on display in the galleries; buffering and scavenger material preparation for exhibitions; acting as part of the museum climate management team; participation in the museum's Integrated Pest Management program; documentation of incoming and outgoing loan objects; and potential collaborations with the objects conservation team on cleaning and light treatment of museum objects. The Louis Stokes Scholar Intern will have an opportunity to rotate through several areas of the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. During the rotation, the interns will support Operation & Maintenance with research for further optimizing functions of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Renewable Energy Facility. Intern Potential Interactions: Administration, Finance, Engineering, Building, Drinking Water Plant, Water Distribution, Sanitary Sewer, Street, Parks, and Recreation Potential Supervisors: Superintendents and Operations Managers of relevant departments General Purpose: The Administration Intern will assist the Department of Administration with the day-to-day operations of the municipality. The intern's role will revolve heavily around research and analysis. Projects assigned throughout the internship are expected to vary in topic and will give the intern a greater understanding of the multiple dimensions and functions of local government. Essential Duties: Complete projects that require conducting research on issues related to the municipality, analyzing data using tools such as Excel and possibly SQL or GIS, and drafting reports. Access and record information from outside sources, including governmental and state departments' websites. Assist in the development and preparation of reports, plans, presentations, maps, and other materials related to special projects. Present the status of projects and project findings to officials. Draft professional letters, memos, spreadsheets, reports, press releases, and other documents as needed. Proofread letters and documents. Review, interpret, and apply a variety of complex policies and procedures. Attend meetings as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Seeking Juniors or above majoring in Public Relations, Public Administration, Political Science, Law, Communications, or a related field.
