Work schedule can be adjusted to fit around student's class schedule. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The part-time Program Intern shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the J. F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty, Staff, and Student Handbook. In addition, when performing tasks off-site with a mentor, the Intern shall conform to the mentoring organization's policies and procedures. * Assist with data collection and other tasks assigned by mentor * Assist with technical support * Assist with organizing work areas and inventory of equipment * Assist with routine maintenance including hardware and software * Maintain an inventory of assigned equipment and supplies * Assist the mentor in performing tasks assigned * Attend meetings as appropriate * Perform other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Instructor or Mentor Job description may be modified or altered at any time by management. Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: This role requires a highly detail-oriented individual who has the ability to comfortably and professionally engage with everyone from high school students to government representatives and industry leaders. * Currently enrolled as a student in Drake State * Entry level knowledge of Microsoft Office and other application software packages * Ability to project a professional and congenial demeanor * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public DESIRED PROFILE:Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate through their experiences and accomplishments: * Understanding of and a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a community and technical college * Sensitivity and commitment to cultural diversity * Ability to handle various situations in a calm and professional manner * Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines * Commitment to teaching and learning, where recent high school graduates, adult students, and non-traditional students are involved Application Procedures/Additional Information Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the NEOED on-line application system to be considered. The institution is headquartered in Cullman, AL with five offices that serve the northern twenty-seven (27) counties of Alabama. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent and in the third or fourth year of a bachelor's program at an accredited university. JOB PURPOSE AND SCOPE: Performs entry-level general office support that is somewhat varied in nature. Works under close supervision. This is a fixed term temporary position and usually lasts 90-120 days. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Undertakes an/or participates in projects and programs designed to develop professional skills and expertise appropriate to the needs of the organization. Participates in the planning and implementation of department projects and initiatives within area of expertise. Interacts directly with colleagues, clientele, and/or other internal or external constituencies in the planning of assignments and the resolution of day-to-day operational problems. Receives guidance, training, and mentoring from professional personnel in planning and carrying out activities and assignments. Rotates through different departments to learn about Alabama Farm Credit and how each department operates. Operates a variety of standard office equipment according to detailed instructions, which may include computers, paper shredders, telephones, photocopiers, fax machines and scanners. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. SKILL REQUIREMENTS: General knowledge of office equipment and systems used for the storage and retrieval of business information. General knowledge of standard records management and file classification practices. Knowledge of written correspondence principles. Skill in oral and written communication. Basic skill level in Microsoft Office applications. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Frequent interaction with customers, association departmental staff and management. Occasional interaction with area professionals including real estate agents, commercial bankers, and others who deal with the association in the normal course of business. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to stand for limited periods of time. Frequent finger/hand manipulation (keyboard, office equipment, small hand tools, etc.), occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling while exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
