Job Duties
Performs field work as assigned independently by traveling to program sponsor locations to conduct program monitoring and\or provide technical assistance. Works remotely and in office to provide technical assistance, approve sponsor submitted program changes, and assist in approving new and annual renewal applications.
Job responsibilities in Brief
Assists and participates in the administration of the Child and Adult Care Food Programs, provides technical assistance, monitors, and reviews program institutions, facilities, and/or sponsors to determine compliance with applicable Federal and State program regulations, assists program staff responsible for implementing measures to expand program participation; performs related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Reviews sponsor participation practices for administrative compliance with Federal and State regulations; responsible for review and approval of applications submitted by institutions and potential institutions;
Measures criteria and evaluates institution and\or facilities' food service methods; evaluates meal patterns for participating institutions to determine compliance with the nutritional requirements of the program; conducts administrative reviews of institution and facilities for compliance monitoring requirements;
Prepares reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations;
Meets with organizations, agencies, and other interested groups to develop and promote the programs;
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units;
Will be required to utilize personal cell phone for business communication with program sponsors and office staff.

The Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council (DSSRC) is an advertising self-regulation program that was launched in 2019 and is administered by BBB National Programs, Inc. DSSRC was created to evaluate the truth and accuracy of product and income claims disseminated by direct selling companies and their sales force members with an emphasis on product and claims being communicated on social media platforms.
DSSRC's basic activities are the review and evaluation of representations direct selling advertising and marketing in all media. When these express and implied claims are found to be untruthful, inaccurate, or inconsistent with the rules, regulations and guidance provided by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Direct Selling Association's Code of Ethics and/or the precedent established by other self-regulation organizations such as the BBB National Programs, Inc.'s National Advertising Division (NAD), DSSRC provides guidance and seeks change through the voluntary cooperation of direct selling companies. DSSRC frequently engages collaboratively with FTC representatives and the staff of State Attorneys General.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviewing monitoring data regarding direct selling advertising and marketing on social media and company websites for compliance with the applicable state and federal rules, statutes and guidelines.
Working on legal research projects and gaining valuable knowledge of self-regulatory precedent-setting cases;
Evaluating company compliance with self-regulatory decisions pertaining to major direct selling company marketing campaigns in collaboration with the DSSRC staff;
Identifying problematic product and income claims disseminated by direct selling companies and their sales forces;
Keeping DSSRC staff abreast of new applicable case law including recent FTC actions;
Providing feedback on applicable provisions of the DSSRC Policy & Procedures.; and
Corresponding with the Direct Selling Association, the industry trade association and working with DSSRC's third-party monitoring vendor

**What You Will Do**
+ Assist in evolving the long-term strategic planning process for ESPN, including building financial models and creating synthesized presentations for executive management

The Multimedia Division at Human Rights Watch (HRW) is seeking undergraduate and graduate students in film, content marketing, journalism, or related fields to be a Multimedia intern based in HRW's New York office. Ideally, the candidate will be available full time, 35 hours per week, for 3 months starting in mid-to-late-January 2026 (start date is flexible).
This internship is designed for students with an interest in video content creation, social media marketing, or content analysis. Under close supervision of the Multimedia team, the intern will support the work on establishing best practices for video production and actively look for video ideas to support the production content for HRW's Development and Program Departments. This will include researching, content strategizing, developing social-specific products for marketing, and monitoring HRW's activity on the media. The intern will have the opportunity to be involved in other projects depending on the interns skills and interests, as well as the needs of the Multimedia Team.
Responsibilities:
The intern will learn and be exposed to:
Assisting in all aspects of video production workflow;
Participating in team meetings, video production, distribution discussions, and digital/social media strategy discussions;
Engaging in and using tracking tools to look for HRW media coverage;
Organizing and supporting the platforms used to publish content for the Development Department;
Supporting the production of on and off location video shoots;
Monitoring HRW's impact to propose and execute impact story videos;
Contributing to video and photo editing process;
Participating in sourcing third party footage and music for Development videos; and
Drafting scripts for social media videos.
Qualifications:
Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program for the duration of the internship term is required;
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential;
Strong interest in video creation and distribution, and/or video data analysis are highly preferred; and
Some knowledge or experience using video/photo editing tools like premiere, and/or experience in social media distribution strategy is a plus.
Compensation: Interns in the United States will be paid an hourly wage of USD 17.00 per hour. Human Rights Watch offers interns in the US twenty (20) days of vacation prorated per year pursuant to the interns schedule and length of internship. Students may also be able to arrange academic credit, as Human Rights Watch internships often offer direct exposure to the workings of an international human rights organization, close supervision by HRW staff, and interaction with other US and international organizations and foreign and domestic government officials. WJE offers a robust, total compensation structure, where the hourly rate is just one component of an employee's annual earnings. Additionally, employees may be eligible to receive overtime and variable compensation based on personal and company performance, often resulting in above-market annual earnings.
