Position Description:
Appropriately diagnose mental health and substance-related conditions using the DSM V
Appropriately assess client needs using the American Society of Addiction Medicine Patient Placement Criteria.
Utilize the Therapeutic Community model as the main component of treatment.
Conduct individual, family, and group therapy as assigned.
Develop an effective level of rapport with clients on caseload while maintaining healthy boundaries.
Complete thorough and effective assessments in required time frames, such as funding extension requests.
Coordinate client psychiatric evaluations and other wrap-around services to provide effective care.
Complete treatment planning within a required time frame.
Utilize motivational techniques to retain and support client progress.
Actively utilize the treatment team for clinical support on caseload.
Participate in extracurricular activities with clients.
Connect clients to community resources.
Complete service documentation within the appropriate client management system within 24 hours.
Accurately document services using ASAM Dimensional Analysis format, including all required elements.
Proactively involve and communicate with collateral supports, including family, significant others, probation officers, judges, caseworkers, etc.
Document all incidents immediately and report as required.
Complete accurate and thorough client reports in required time frames, such as court reports.
Other duties as assigned.

Licensure / Education / Prior Experience Required:
Working toward Masters degree in social work, mental health counseling, or marriage and family therapy
Be in the first or second year of an accredited masters level mental health program
You must pass a criminal background check if working with children or vulnerable adult populations.
First Aid and CPR Certification (will receive at Odyssey House if accepted)
Must comply with annual TB tests and annual Flu and Covid immunizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate and manage all aspects of Jazz Bantam game days and practices, ensuring a smooth and professional experience for players, coaches, and parents.
Collect, verify, and enter game scoresheets from each location in a timely and accurate manner.
Collaborate with the Referee Assignor to confirm daily referee schedules, address last-minute changes, and coordinate replacements for no-shows.
Maintain consistent communication with game day venues to ensure all logistics are in place, including signage, banners, scorekeepers, gym supervisors, and court availability.
Assist in scheduling and overseeing scorekeepers, serving as a key point of contact for on-site operations.
Provide on-site support at select games and practices, including setup, breakdown, and event execution.
Track and submit scorekeeper hours and coordinate payment processes at designated locations.
Uphold the Utah Jazz brand by fostering a fun, safe, and memorable environment for youth participants and families.
Identify opportunities to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall Jazz Bantam experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business, Communications, Event Management, or a related field.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and manage several priorities simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable interacting with coaches, parents, referees, and youth participants.
Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of problem-solving in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

Perform basic medical care including but not limited to intravenous injections, blood draws, medicating, vaccinating, subcutaneous fluids, catheter placement, and microchipping under the direction of a veterinarian; have a comprehensive knowledge of sterile techniques, basic knowledge of surgical instruments, and general pharmacology, anesthesia monitoring, surgical induction and recovery; skilled understanding of humane restraint for medical procedures and emergency stabilization procedures.
Maintain a clean and disinfected working environment, maintain controlled substances logs, accurately enter, and maintain patient and client medical data.
Support, empower and enable volunteers and foster parents with the goal of utilizing volunteers to expand Best Friends lifesaving capacity; assist with client communications including aftercare and emergency support.
Provide basic care such as feeding, cleaning, walking, and socialization for animals temporarily housed or transported within Lifesaving Center vehicles, buildings, or facilities.
Deliver superior customer service; communicate (or develop communications) about and maintain knowledge of Best Friends and community partner programs.
Work collaboratively with Best Friends' team members in all areas of operations to achieve lifesaving goals; follow Best Friends policies, procedures, and task lists for daily lifesaving outcome assignments, including accurate and timely communications, work completion, data entry, and recordkeeping.
Maintain a safe workplace, value, and model safe work practices, adhering to organizational safety practices and rules, and communicating to leadership about unsafe practices and conditions.
STANDARD SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, PHYSICAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE
Required Skills and Experience:
Some formal education from an AVMA accredited veterinary technician certification program preferred but not required.
A minimum of two years working experience in veterinary medicine setting or equivalent work experience in an animal welfare or nonprofit setting.
Bilingual or multi-lingual skills preferred but not required.
Customer-centric, non-judgmental approach to engaging with adopters, partners, visitors, volunteers, and colleagues; familiarity and comfort with a conversational adoption process.
Ability to work with, leash, kennel, walk, and handle cats and dogs, including those with health and/or behavior conditions/concerns; basic ability to identify and speak to medical and behavioral characteristics of dogs and cats.
Strong interpersonal skills, a team player, personable, professional, and able to get along with people from different backgrounds, as well as the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with well-developed organization skills to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
Resourceful, get-it-done attitude; initiative to assist in any area or process; problem solving, seeking answers independently and enthusiastically; flexibility to persist until goals are achieved.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products; familiarity with shelter software/animal management software, or desire to learn.

Must be able to:
Routinely lift 40 pounds and perform daily strenuous activity including, but not limited to lifting, carrying, reaching, stooping, squatting, cleaning, and bending.
Perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time including typing, sitting, walking, arm, and hand motion.
Work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
Exposure to dogs, cats and other animals of all sizes, temperaments, and medical status.
Valid driver's license, meeting Best Friends Animal Society's driver qualification standards; ability to travel, including overnight stays, when needed.
Daily hours and days of the week may vary according to the needs of the department schedule; position includes weekends, nights, and holiday work.

This individual will be responsible for scanning, labeling, and uploading employee documents into BambooHR for both active and terminated staff. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in the People & Culture/HR field while contributing to a key compliance and data integrity paperless initiative.
The People & Culture Intern will be a part-time, onsite position at the Murray corporate office, reporting to the People & Culture Manager. The role will run for a minimum of four months and offers flexible scheduling. Compensation is hourly and based on experience.
