As an insurance defense attorney within our bodily injury (BI) unit, you'll be a part of our motor vehicle insurance defense litigation team, providing legal representation to Progressive insureds and/or to the Progressive Insurance Companies before courts and arbitration panels in all aspects of litigation. Handling cases from beginning to end, you'll also prepare legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs and be involved in negotiating settlements. Additionally, you'll work closely with clients and claims partners to prepare timely reports on litigation, ensuring all appropriate defenses are leveraged to reach positive outcomes. Other tasks will include analyzing written discovery, depositions, medical records and assessing the value of claims to determine risk exposure.
This is a 100% remote position for our Ft. Myers Office. Venues covered: Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Desoto, Highlands, Hendry, Sarasota, and Manatee Counties.

Job Summary
This position is responsible for representing clients in all areas of insurance defense practice, handling cases that are primarily low to moderate in complexity and exposure. Manages all phases of cases from intake to resolution.
Essential Job Functions
Litigates low to moderate complexity and exposure cases and performs duties necessary from intake to trial and/or settlement. This includes but is not limited to preparation of pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
Attends hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials.
Proactively informs leadership of case handling opportunities and challenges encountered.
Consults with the Claims Department on the legal aspects of files and jurisdictional issues.
Performs other tasks or duties to ensure efficient case management.
May handle second chair trials and handle trials in cases with moderate complexity and/or exposure.
Provides support to senior attorneys in cases of greater complexity and/or exposure and receives developmental assignments of matters that are of high complexity and/or exposure.
