Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
National Accounts provides casualty solutions for clients with significant risk with coverages such as Workers' Compensation, General and Product Liability, as well as Commercial Automobile Liability. The Account Executive Officer (AEO), National Accounts will partner with agents, brokers, and customers to provide guaranteed cost and loss sensitive coverage for new and renewal business based on customers' needs. This role is seen as a technical resource. As an AEO, you are decisive, detail-oriented, and know how to build relationships internally and externally to drive results. Your ability to independently assess complex risk and sell our products in challenging markets will contribute to the profitability and success of Travelers.
What Will You Do?
* Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
* Underwrite and skillfully negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
* Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
* Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting in person with agents, brokers, and customers to market and sell Travelers products with a goal of writing and retaining accounts consistent with our risk appetite. Must be able to travel to such meetings.
* Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills. The sales process to target new accounts has a long runway (6 months to 1 year).
* Independently develop and execute agency sales plans and frequently partner with your Managing Director (MD) to develop region/group sales plans.
* May assist in the training and mentoring of less experienced Account Executives.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
* Bachelor's degree.
* Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience with experience in National Accounts.
* Deep knowledge of loss sensitive products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
* Deep financial acumen.
* Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze available information to make timely decisions in alignment with our risk appetite.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to successfully negotiate in difficult situations with agents and brokers.
* CPCU designation.

Key responsibilities:
Wording library and drafting support
Maintain and expand the global wording library centered on Liberty Cyber Resolution and Liberty Tech Resolution, including endorsements, exclusions, and guidance notes.
Redline and prepare first drafts of standard clauses and endorsements; ensure consistency with definitions, coverage intent, and plain-language standards.
Track version control, change logs, approvals, and archiving;
Assist with localization for different jurisdictions, coordinating translations and filing documentation with Legal/Compliance.
Commercial enablement
Build practical tools (playbooks, FAQs, objection-handling guides, coverage summaries) to help regional teams position our products and close deals efficiently.
Prepare broker/client comparison decks and battlecards; support pitches, RFP/RFI responses, and manuscript negotiations with clause comparisons and recommended alternatives.
Triage wording queries from regions; track SLAs and referral approvals per the global governance framework.
Partner closely with Underwriting, Product, Global Cyber Engagement, Claims, Legal/Compliance, and regional leaders to deliver accurate, timely support and uphold governance standards.
Regulatory and legal stewardship
Monitor and synthesize global regulatory and market developments (e.g., Lloyd's cyber war/systemic guidance, GDPR, DORA, NIS2, sanctions) into succinct briefs and recommended wording actions.
Maintain audit-ready documentation; assist with regulatory filings or attestations where required.
Claims partnership and feedback loop
Collaborate with Claims to capture lessons from disputes and litigation trends; draft guidance notes and propose clarifications to improve coverage certainty.
Support coverage position letters and documentation packs with research, citations, and clause histories.
Innovation and product development support
Help draft prototype wordings for new propositions
Check alignment between underlying policy wordings and reinsurance treaty/facultative clauses.
Administer wording management tools, ensuring robust version control, approval workflows, and usage analytics.
Build dashboards and trackers for adoption of standard forms, deviation rates, SLA performance, disputes, and audit findings; provide monthly reporting to stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or other quantitative field. Minimum 3 years, typically 4 years or more of relevant work experience.
2 - 5 years of experience in insurance wordings, legal/paralegal support, underwriting support, or product documentation; cyber specialty experience preferred.
Strong drafting, redlining, and proofreading skills with a plain-language mindset and exceptional attention to detail.
Working knowledge of insurance policy structures, endorsements, exclusions, and coverage interpretation; familiarity with cyber war/systemic language, sanctions, and privacy regulations is advantageous.

General Summary:The Sales Consultant Associate is in active development to be a marketing and technical expert who represents Unum - educating and motivating other professionals to sell Unum products to their clients in the small case market. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Perform advanced actuarial analyses in the following areas: valuation/reserving, pricing, product development, research/support, business planning and finance.
Manage the process by which we set peril-specific base rates for each of our states, brands, and programs.
Review and share state specific insights and assumptions to refine actuarially sound and customized indications for Home new and renewal books in the large complex states
Develop, track and utilize appropriate actuarial techniques and methodologies to forecast profitability at the state level to account for state-specific considerations while aligning with countrywide guidance.
Develop a deep understanding of the complex states in various aspects that contributed to the success of the whole state operations and underwriting economics, pursuing ad-hoc projects as needed to help support evaluation of state levers in underwriting, marketing, digital platform, distribution channel, and geographical risk management.
Independently identify, research and address knowledge gaps in our understanding of state unique market and regulatory environments, develop expertise, and document insights, methodologies and processes.
Collaborate with Actuarial, Finance, Claims, Product, Data & Modeling, Product Design, and other teams in Risk Analytics to assess and improve profitability positions in the complex states, leverage information from partners to assess the performance and impacts of new programs and product enhancements in these unique markets.
Understanding our business competitiveness and pricing accuracy across various segments in these states; highlight states/segments that are performing better/worse than expected based on key metric assumptions and state features.
Communicates findings and emerging trends to stakeholders, makes effective action recommendations and provides state profit and growth tactics insights.
Attract, select, manage, and develop talent, considering individual styles, strengths, and career objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree preferred.
Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) or near-FCAS designation preferred.
5-10 years progressively responsible experience, including supervisory experience.
Ability to foster teamwork and relationships across organizational line.
Knowledge of underwriting concepts including company/agency relationships' importance to the business success.
Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively express technical actuarial and statistical concepts to non-technical individuals internal and external to the organization.

The Business Insurance Underwriting Professional Development Internship Program provides students with the amazing opportunity to gain exposure to this critical function at Travelers. The 10-week program provides qualified students with an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand commercial insurance underwriting experience, receive valuable on-the-job training, and learn more about the property and casualty insurance industry from industry professionals. It is a potential pathway to our 12-month Underwriting Professional Development Program (UPDP).

What Will You Do?
Within your assigned business unit, each intern will be given a designated coach and be expected to:
* Complete core assignments and training modules geared toward insurance and underwriting principles.
* Participate and complete self-paced professional development courses in time management, presentation skills, and other key areas.
* Complete challenging and meaningful project work over the course of this program at the discretion of your manager. You may work independently or with other interns and will be asked to present your findings to local leadership. Sample projects include a territorial risk assessment to determine profitability and underwriting opportunities as well as a business process analysis to determine underwriting gaps.
* Learn about other areas at Travelers such as Risk Control, Claims, and related Corporate functions. Interns may also engage in Agency visits with Account Executives.
* Participate in the Enterprise Internship experience which includes Executive Speaker Series, Networking events, and Intern Symposium for Rising Seniors.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
