1 Plans, organizes, and directs the design activities for the School Upgrade Program and critical repair projects. Functions as the lead design professional in the Design Department providing quality review, implementation of policy and procedures and interface and coordinates with the Division of State Architects (DSA)

2 Manages, develops, and coordinates the Districts design process for the Facilities Planning and Development Division to ensure that plans are within functional program, budgetary, environmental and legal requirements

3 Manages multiple projects through interaction with Architects, consultants, and District personnel from project conception, through draft to final review, approval, and handoff to Project Execution

4 Oversees the building design process to ensure compliance with LAUSDs standards and guidelines for the District by working with design professionals and various District administrators to ensure that new and modernized structures meet both educational and building standards requirements

5 Establishes and follows a process to identify and select the architectural firm best suited for each project based on the firms qualifications and ability to meet performance standards

Requirements
Required Experience:

administration, cost estimating, and scheduling activities
5 years of this experience must be with the design, planning and construction of educational facilities or similar public agencies
Required Education:

Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelors degree in Architecture or Engineering
Preferred Licenses and Certificates:

As a Project Architect, you are responsible for the delivery of a project through the design, production, and construction phases. You will oversee and/or execute the production of the design and construction documents and coordinate across the entire team to ensure the drawings and specifications are coordinated and properly represent the design intent. you will also apply professional knowledge in designing to meet the governmental regulations, zoning and building codes, and current building industry standards. Professional Registration is required for this title.

Preferred Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from an accredited university or equivalent education and/or experience
  • Proven work experience in architecture and working on production of construction and bid documents
  • Registered Professional, preferably with national accreditation/certification
  • LEED AP certification is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience and competency with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Prior experience with staff management and resource allocation
  • Prior project and/or account management experience
  • Prior experience working on projects in retail, restaurant, grocery, and or healthcare is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary
