This is a fully on-site role based in Austin, Texas; some assistance may be available for successful candidates relocating within the United States.
You will need to be an expert in Robotics design to apply for this vacancy - 3 years+.
Role Description:
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will own mechanical systems as well as their integration into larger assemblies - many of which are subject to high-temperature, corrosive, and/or water-heavy environments; and some of which are inherently electro-mechanical systems. You will be seeing projects through the full product lifecycle, and will be heavily involved with each step.
You will build, design, engineer, lead, and test. You'll take systems from concept to production and see them deployed in the field. You'll work closely with the team, own your work end-to-end, and make real decisions that shape the product.
They expect you to take initiative, speak up, and care about the details. You'll have a lot of autonomy, and with that, the responsibility to make high-impact decisions. They are looking for engineers who want to own what they build and why they're building it.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Own complex systems and see them through all levels of product maturity
Design innovative solutions given system requirements, producing 3D CAD and proof-of-concepts
Drive concept validation and critical learnings through rapid iteration; jerry-rigging test platforms when its faster
Conduct analysis to ensure designs satisfy strength, reliability, and assembly requirements
Lead and participate in design reviews and issue triages, ensuring buy-in from cross-disciplinary engineers
Generate assembly layouts and detailed engineering drawings using GD&T concepts
Work with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure parts are well-produced when necessary
Develop and execute testing plans; performing root cause analysis on failures in development and deployment
Design and build jigs, test fixtures, and tools when required
Assemble systems to test performance and integration, and to help with robot manufacturing
Document design justifications, analysis, test results, and recommendations
Communicate directly with users as necessary to determine engineering direction for specific features, and to reduce vagueness of requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
2+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis, specifically for complex systems
Experience with the full product lifecycle, from design to production and commercialization
Proficient in CAD and mechanical/thermal FEA analysis software (such as Solidworks and Ansys)
Working knowledge of GD&T

Other Responsibilities:
Be a company-wide subject matter expert in circuit design, applications or enablement, and able to guide or mentor peers on GF solutions or issue resolution
Solve complex problems and bring innovation to problem-solving
Represent the Application Engineering team within GF or in customer-related engagements
Generate documents to facilitate customer issue resolution and internal business process introduction or improvements
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Compliance, Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs at GF

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field with 6+ years in semiconductor manufacturing, design or enablement
Experience with circuit design environment, tools & methodologies
Experience Power Management technology, application, design, PDK or design tools & methodologies
Experience with Linux, shell scripting, SVRF, TCL, Python or other automation languages & environment
Consistent performance and professionalism
Skilled with Microsoft tools (e.g. Office, Outlook, SharePoint, MS-Dynamics, etc.)
Strong communication skills
Strong planning & organizational skill
Fluency in English Language - written & verbal
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's in Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field with 7+ years in semiconductor manufacturing, design, or enablement; or
PhD in Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field with 5+ years in semiconductor manufacturing, design or enablement
Publication of design, application or design enablement documents in previous roles
Experience with modeling, ESD, latch-up
Experience with Booleans and design rules
Experience with physical design, DRC, DFM
Familiarity with device physics
Familiarity with the tape-out process
Familiarity with PCMs, process KPIs
Familiarity with silicon manufacturing
Project management
Sales or Customer interface
Cross-functional project leadership/participation
Expected Salary Range
$94,300.00 - $231,600.00

Automation & Controls Engineer
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Design, implement, and optimize automation solutions, including advanced conveyor and pick-and-place systems and precision material handling.
Support the engineering of automation and controls on new and existing equipment.
Integrate a wide range of controls components such as PLCs and/or SCADA systems, motion controllers, machine vision systems, heater controllers, web edge guiding and steering mechanisms, pneumatic actuators, encoders, force sensors, thermocouples, analog devices, and various location, distance, and material presence sensors.
Support electrical control box engineering, standards compliance, assembly, modification, and documentation upkeep.
Develop, deploy, and maintain revision control of electrical and software changes on large tool sets where the hardware and software must be copied exactly.
Develop and execute test plans to verify machine functionality and reliability.
Provide timely and accurate project status, documentation, and training.
Troubleshoot down equipment, including finding the root cause of failures and engineering solutions to correct them.
Work closely with equipment vendors throughout all phases of a project's development on controls and software requirements and related issues.
Support factory expansion efforts, including vendor acceptance testing, equipment commissioning and process qualification.

Knowledge of manufacturing executions systems including direct experience integrating equipment data streams into factory information databases.
Advanced knowledge of process control and implementation of real time data acquisition.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
