Your Impact
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting applied NLP research to advance our Language AI features. This includes, but not limited to, hierarchical summarization, internationalization, evaluation of generated texts, human alignment, and more fundamentally, a crucial set of techniques that can utilize the existing pre‑/mid‑/post‑trained LLM model checkpoints to the best extent, by, for instance, fine‑tuning, adaptation, model surgery/editing, and reinforcement learning to customize models for the business need, for cloud, on‑prem, and on‑device deployment.
Your duties will include innovating and employing cutting‑edge technologies with the consideration of practical product launch, which concerns optimization of performance, scalability, safety, reliability, and measurable generation quality. Staying up to date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning (ML) is expected, as is suggesting how new technologies might be implemented. Addressing and resolving any modeling issues that arise from product applications will be an integral part of your responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications

Strong foundation in machine learning and natural language processing, including familiarity with transformer architectures, common training schemes, and evaluation methodologies
Proficiency in Python and experience with at least one deep learning framework

Preferred Qualifications

Sinclair Digital's Cloud Computing team is building a new program to integrate fresh talent with diverse experience into an exceptional cloud‑computing powerhouse, from the ground up. Our digital portfolio combines websites, mobile apps, over‑the‑top (OTT) apps, and our content publishing platform into a seamless user experience. This is a temporary role that will initially be a contractor position through an agency, with the potential to transition to a full‑time role based on performance and business needs. It is required that this candidate be located in Seattle, WA.
Responsibilities
Immerse yourself in a diverse technology ecosystem at Sinclair Digital, gaining hands‑on experience with client, server, and cloud technologies.
Learn by building new cloud services using CI/CD and IAC development paradigms.
Develop a complete understanding of your assigned application and backend systems.
Innovate by designing and building applications to discover and implement cutting‑edge content delivery methods.
Be a strong team player while collaborating with other team members across the org.
Be ready to discuss and present your ideas to others, taking critical feedback and improving and iterating on design.
Follow best practices and patterns, while continuing to explore new and emerging technologies.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Science with a Full Stack Web Development certificate, or equivalent practical experience.
6 months experience in application and/or web development.
Experience working in several languages and tools including JavaScript, Java, Express, Node.js, MySQL, MongoDB, Mongoose, Python, ReactJS, jQuery, HTML5, and CSS.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with or strong interest in AWS cloud services, Databricks, and modern cloud‑native architectures, including Docker containers, microservices, Kubernetes clusters, Terraform, and serverless / event‑driven systems, along with a passion for learning and building scalable distributed solutions.

About the Team

Base salary for this role is $82,000. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. During the temporary contractor period, this position is not benefit‑eligible through Sinclair. Upon successful conversion to full‑time status, you would be eligible for company benefits that include retirement plan participation, annual incentive plan bonuses, life and disability insurance, health, dental, and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, 15 paid vacation days, 2 paid personal days, 9 paid holidays, 40 hours of paid sick leave, parental leave, and an employee stock purchase plan.
