Emrgy develops and deploys hydropower in the 140,000+ miles of water conveyance infrastructure in the United States. The Company’s patented modular hydropower turbines grew out of Department of Defense and Department of Energy research and are designed to maximize power output in canals and channels.
The Job
We are hiring a Project Finance Analysts to support our mission of deploying 100s of MWs of new hydro power annually across the United States. This is an opportunity to have an immediate impact on the energy transition. Canals and channels are brownfields for permitting and have a categorical exception from FERC hydro requirements. This exemption allows an Emrgy project to be developed and deployed in months, unlike the years required for front of the meter solar, wind or traditional hydropower. The most important carbon to avoid emitting is the carbon emitted today.
Location : Remote (preference for candidates in Minneapolis or Atlanta)
Salary: $75 - $95k base depending on experience

Position Summary
The Finance and Compliance Analyst is responsible for supporting the Sponsored Projects Finance team with the various financial administration duties of a diverse portfolio of private and public grants and contracts of varied complexity, ensuring that they are administered in a fiscally responsible manner, complying with all applicable rules and regulations established by both the sponsor agency and the University.
Responsibilities
Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data, assisting in the preparation of financial reports and billings to sponsors, reconciliation of receipt of funding and receivables for the collection of accounts receivable, and participating in account close-out; Supporting the processes which provide institutional oversight of allowable and appropriate recording of expenses to sponsored projects and the general ledger in order to ensure compliance with generally acceptable accounting principles (GAAP) and sponsor reporting requirements; Assisting in the preparation of required close-out documents for grants and/or contracts, including contractors' releases and assignments; Reviewing sponsoring agency policies, regulatory documents and other literature related to sponsored project financial administration to maintain familiarity with granting and contracting agency policies and revisions. Providing customer service, a core mission of the department, to team as well as internal and external customers and providing them with the appropriate support regarding sponsored project financial administration and general ledger accounting. Maintaining records in accordance with internal procedures, demonstrating compliance with sponsor regulations concerning equipment, project expenditures and other fiscal concerns. Performing other related duties and working on special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required; Minimum of two years' accounting-related experience required;
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with grant and/or fund accounting preferred; Demonstrated knowledge of accounting business processes, ideally in the area of research administration/grants management preferred;
Other Requirements
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required. Must be comfortable working with databases and computerized financial systems. Must be able to identify priorities within multiple assignments in a high-pressured, short-deadline environment, and be able to work with diplomacy and efficiency in such an environment. Must be able to demonstrate excellent organizational, analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Complete monthly project cost reporting for project and distribute to management. Work with project managers to update project EFC's and communicate all project issues via monthly report.
* Month-end close requirements, including preparing monthly project status and accrual reports, prepare and post payroll allocations and charge-outs and coordinate contract and purchase order receipts/accruals.
* Review, audit and approve invoices/payment applications related to project. Research vendor payment issues and make recommendations for resolution.
* Manage debt requirements such as cash flow and monthly cash infusion.
* Cash flow preparation (weekly, monthly and quarterly)
* Assist in the vendor bid and award process including cost comparison and bid review meetings.
* Perform other Ad-Hoc duties as assigned.
* Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
