    The RN performs pre-surgical nursing assessments and provides education to the patient prior to admission at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. The RN assesses and evaluates the care needs of the patient, requests necessary pre-surgical clearances and diagnostics, and communicates the patient's plan of care to the ASC. Location: Proliance Center for Specialty Surgery (First Hill) Facility Schedule: Tuesday through Friday Position Schedule: part-time, 2x10s, day shift (no weekends, no call, no nights) Key Duties and Responsibilities The key duties and responsibilities of the RN include, but are not limited to: Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience Maintain a friendly, positive and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff Assist in patient education during all phases of their experience at the Center Assist in assuring that the proper supplies, instruments and equipment are available for the procedure Assist in assuring that equipment is functioning properly Monitor use of all supplies. Assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used. Document appropriately the care that is given to the patient Continuing education to meet State requirements and keep current with health care changes. Display professionalism at work and in the community as a representative of the Center Take an active role on committees within the department Identifies actual and potential risk to patients and others and takes action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety Performs charge nurse responsibilities as staffing demands and as requested Education/Experience Graduation from an accredited school of nursing Current State licensure and CPR, ACLS and PALS accreditation Two years of OR, Recovery Room, Intensive Care or Emergency Room experience is desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Problem solving skills Skill in using a computer Knowledge of applicable specialties Outpatient clinical organizational ability Ability to remove oneself personally from given situations, remaining objective Ability to exhibit cooperation, flexibility, and provide assistance when interfacing with patients, physician and staff Ability to multi-task Skill in organizing and reporting information that is accurate and complete Understanding of the need for and evidence of consistent respect for confidentiality/HIPAA Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all staff Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions Ability to communicate clearly Consistency and timeliness in attendance Work Environment/Physical Demands The work environment/physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a teammate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is a Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30 pm; with availability to be visible for PM/Nights/Weekends as needed, this could be for support, rounding, spending time with a new hire, etc. We are looking for a candidate with strong communication skills, can be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the unit, support new hires and staff with development and competencies. We are also looking for this candidate to be a forward thinker and process improvement mind, with experience navigating growth and change management. ER Grafton is a high performing, high acuity level III 18 bed Emergency Room. STEMI Receiving Center, Primary Stroke Center, Geriatric ED Accreditation with much exciting growth coming in the next year. Previous experience in an educator/generalist role is preferred. BSN and ED experience will be required. 5+ years of RN ED experience is highly preferred; active in Shared Governance is also highly preferred. Pay Range $41.10 - $61.65Major Responsibilities: Supports the orientation process by developing, coordinating, facilitating, conducting and evaluating orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel. Assists with competency management, which includes using tools that capture objective and subjective data regarding an individual's knowledge base and actual performance. Designs educational activities to address practice gaps for identified target audiences in consultation with a Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist. Utilizes best practice standards including adult learning principles in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities in order to facilitate the achievement of desired outcomes (for learners). Provides strategies to facilitate a continuous process of lifelong learning which may include role transition, role integration, skill acquisition, and mastery as learners advance from novice to expert in their professions and specialties. Collaborates with system and operational leadership to meet the education needs of the site and nursing departments. Adjusts materials and teaching strategies appropriate to the situation and the learner's developmental level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language preference, and culture. Implementation reflects awareness of scope of practice of different employees and disciplines. Uses assisted aids/technologies as needed to meet learners needs. Evaluates and analyzes the impact of programming on learners, organizational resources, and patient outcomes and makes adjustments in consultation with an NPD Specialist as needed. Establishes and implements appropriate evaluation tools and methodologies to identify needs or gaps in the knowledge, skills, and competencies of nursing personnel to advance the practice of nursing in consultation with an NPD Specialist as needed. Develops and supports education needs based on specialty or department in collaboration with regional and system teams. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Experience Required: Typically requires 3 years of experience in front line nursing. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Excellent written and oral communications including strong presentation/speaking skills. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, planning and problem solving skills. Critical thinking and analytical skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Generally exposed to a normal office environment. Must have functional speech, hearing, and senses to allow effective communication.
