The Surgical Technologist in the ASC provides technical hands-on support to the surgeon and operating room team by handling instruments, supplies and equipment before, during and after surgery.
Facility hours: Monday through Friday (no weekends, no nights, no call)
Schedule: 4x10s day shift, 0645-1715
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The key duties and responsibilities of the Surgical Technologist include, but are not limited to:
Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience.
Maintain a friendly, positive, and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff.
Properly handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon based on requests and patterns.
Constantly monitoring for maintenance of the sterile field.
Assist in assuring that the proper supplies, instruments, and equipment are available for the procedure.
Assist in assuring that equipment is functioning properly.
Monitor use of all supplies. Assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used.
Continuing education to meet State requirements and keep current with health care changes.
Display professionalism at work and in the community as a representative of the Center.
Take an active role on committees within the department.
Identifies actual and potential risk to patients and others and takes action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety.
Education/Experience
Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program
Certified Surgical Technologist preferred
Current State licensure and CPR
Two years of direct experience is desired

Join our Operating Room team as a Surgical Technologist in a Level I Trauma Center! The Surgical Technologist functions as an active member of the surgical team in the role of the scrub person. This includes assisting the Circulator with the preparation of the O.R. suite by reviewing the preference card for the appropriate supplies, assists with the gathering of equipment and instrumentation, practices department procedures for hand scrub, gowning and gloving, accurately prepares drugs under the supervision of the Registered Nurse Circulator, sets up sterile instruments, suture and all sterile supplies and maintains sterile field of instruments and supplies during procedures. The Surgical Technologist anticipates and communicates the surgeon's needs and has instruments & supplies readily available for use.

Work Schedule:
This is a 0.8 FTE (64 hours every two weeks). Work schedule will be a mix of day (7:00 am - 3:00 pm) and evening (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm) shifts, and occasional overnight (11:00 pm -7:00 am). There are also weekend responsibilities approximately every 8th weekend. Holiday and vacation rotations per seniority.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of a surgical technologist training program
Completion of national certification exam offered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) within 12 months of hire date. Certification to be maintained by employee during length of employment.
CPR certification required at time of employment and every two years thereafter

+ Accountable for ensuring the provision of patient care 24 hours a day. + Establishes and enforces standards of patient care and nursing practice pertaining to areas of responsibility. Is accountable for developing, implementing, and monitoring unit-based quality improvement programs. Responsible for developing and implementing unit-based goals for the delivery of quality patient care.
+ Assures compliance with department standards by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of patient care by reinforcing positive outcomes and demonstrating corrective action for identified problems.
+ Accountable for appropriate patient care based on assignments of appropriate patient assignments, evaluation of patient care and patient/family satisfaction by conducting rounds and intervening accordingly.
+ Assumes the role of patient advocate to clarify and evaluate ethical and/or legal issues, and supports cultural practices.
+ Assumes accountability for staff retention by tracking staff turnover rate of all categories of personnel and actively taking steps to ensure the reduction of turnover among her/his staff.
+ Demonstrates clinical competence by assisting with patient care in order to maintain clinical skills. Spend time on all shifts to assess care and to coach, develop, evaluate and advocate for staff.
+ Collaborates with the clinical nurse specialist and/or clinical educator to identify, plan, and implement an educational program pertinent to the service and for all level of staff.
+ Hears and adjusts up to step-two grievances.
The Surgical Technologist (ST) is responsible for facilitating the surgical procedure through the assembly of instrumentation, equipment and supplies. SurgicalTechnician - Surgery General - Providence Mount Carmel Hospital at Colville, WA
Schedule: Part Time, Day Shift, 32 hours a week
Responsible to function as the surgicaltechnician in the surgical suite and other clinical areas. The surgicaltechnician will, under the direction of the circulating RN, perform tasks which consists of the selection and set-up of the sterile table with instruments, supplies and equipment; the passing of instruments to the surgeon during the procedure; maintaining sterile technique and caring for instruments following the procedure. The Surgicaltechnicians will, under the supervision of the RN, assist in circulating duties as assigned and assume the defined role of surgical tech, relief tech or turnover team member in order to meet the key performance indicators for the efficient flow of patients through the OR experience.

Required Qualifications:
+ Coursework/Training: Graduate of a Registered SurgicalTechnician program.
+ Washington Surgical Technologist Registration upon hire.
+ National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
+ Current experience as a registered Surgical Technologist. Recent completion of an accredited surgical technologist program may be considered as current experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ 2 years of Operating room experience.

The Surgical/Scrub Technologist in the ASC provides technical hands-on support to the surgeon and operating room team by handling instruments, supplies and equipment before, during and after surgery. Schedule 30 hours, shifts will fall between Monday-Friday, 6:30am-6pm and may be either 8- or 10-hour shifts
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The key duties and responsibilities of the Surgical/Scrub Technologist include, but are not limited to:
Work with all members of the health care team to provide optimal care to the patient throughout their surgical experience.
Maintain a friendly, positive, and caring attitude with all patients, physicians and staff.
Properly handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgeon based on requests and patterns.
Constantly monitoring for maintenance of the sterile field.
Assist in assuring that the proper supplies, instruments, and equipment are available for the procedure.
Assist in assuring that equipment is functioning properly.
Monitor use of all supplies. Assist with inventory control by proper count of supplies/time used.
Continuing education to meet State requirements and keep current with health care changes.
Display professionalism at work and in the community as a representative of the Center.
Take an active role on committees within the department.
Identifies actual and potential risk to patients and others and takes action to minimize or eliminate risk and maximize safety.
Education/Experience
Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program
Certified Surgical Technologist preferred
Current State licensure and CPR
Two years of direct experience is desired
