The Call Center and Patient Access Representative (CCR/PAR) is mainly responsible for scheduling, answering incoming telephone calls, taking messages, making patient reminder calls, patient registration, and performing other duties normally associated with this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as patient experience champion and patient advocate.
Promptly answers calls and/or greets, assists, and directs patients and visitors in a pleasant and professional manner.
Responsible for patient check-in, registration, and check-out when covering the front desk.
When answering calls and covering the front desk instructs patient/guardian of documentation required for visit. On subsequent visits, verifies demographic and billing information to ensure accuracy.
Obtains patient demographic and insurance information, verifies insurance eligibility, and enters accurate information in the electronic health record.
When covering the front desk, patients with an explanation of all registration forms, obtain patient/guardian signatures on required consents and acknowledgements, and scan all accurately completed registration forms in the electronic health record.
Navigates through insurance portals and accurately interprets coverage information such as the plan coverage description, copayment, primary care provider, etc.
Assist patients with changing their primary care provider if applicable.
Is proficient working with the sliding scale program and enters eligible patients into the sliding scale program and enter all necessary information in the electronic record.
Collect and processes payment due for visit (co-pays and outstanding balances) and complete the daily cash reconciliation process.
Schedules patient appointments in accordance with criteria established by Promise Healthcare.
Performs appointment reminder calls.
Manages a large volume of incoming calls on a multi-line phone system. Handles all calls politely and professionally and refers calls to the appropriate staff member when required.
Communicates and coordinates with providers and/or clinical staff to ensure timely patient care.
Records and relays messages to the appropriate staff member.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Responds to phone calls, messages, faxes, team chats, and emails.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma required; college preferred.
One to two years' experience working in healthcare setting strongly preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish) language strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moderate physical exertion including frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching and carrying moderately heavy loads (up to 25 lbs.)
Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues, contagious diseases and/or other potentially hazardous materials
Fine motor coordination sufficient to perform manipulative skills
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to deliver medical services and use equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Must be passionate about a career in the healthcare field that offers on the job training and direct patient care!
Prepares patient for examination, takes height, weight, blood pressure and other measurements as applicable
Takes initial medical information including medication history
Assists in performing waived laboratory tests
Makes correct entries in patient charts and checks appointment dates
Assists patients to examination rooms, lab and restrooms
Restocks and straightens exam rooms
Performs quality assurance on glucometers
Makes copies and faxes documents as requested
Performs other duties as required
