Ultrasound Technologist -performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Schedules and coordinates tests, records test results, and prepares and maintains operational logs.
Essential Responsibilities:
Performs Ultrasound Examinations.
Documents patient assessment and history.
Provides patient education.
Operates computer and ultrasound equipment for image production and documentation.
Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
Performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal images.
Enters and properly completes all patient information including exam charges and supplies into the Radiology Information System (RIS).
Prepares films for interpretation by the radiologist in an accurate and timely manner.
Exhibits flexibility and adaptability to unique needs of the department and respond appropriately.
Communicate abnormal situations to proper sources in a way that facilitates resolution and/or tracking.
Actively engages other health care providers (radiologist, surgeons, specialist, and mammographers) to ensure quality, continuity and appropriateness of care.
Follows department procedures/processes/policies.
Practices safety measures in radiography by adhering to all governing regulations.
Follows universal precautions, infection control guidelines and sterile technique.
Complies with all governing regulations.
Stocks and cleans exam rooms/work areas.
Other duties as assigned.
Applies the professions code of ethics in all aspects of practice.
Basic Qualifications: Experience
Minimum one (1) year experience in Ultrasonography a minimum (will only accept new graduates from KPGA affiliated ultrasound program educational institutions).
Education
Graduate of AMA approved Ultrasonography Program.
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:
Basic PC (keyboarding & navigation) skills.

Summary:
This position independently performs requested ultrasound examinations, searching for any possible pathology as indicated by the patient's symptoms/medical history and/or results from previous testing. The position reviews and discusses the ultrasound findings with the radiologist and a diagnosis is made.

Performs various ultrasound examinations. Subjectively interprets information based on judgmental decisions by Ultrasonographers, requiring in-depth knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and pathology. Maintains complete knowledge of wave form physics, i.e., , time gain compensation curves, attenuation factors, etc. , required to set equipment variable properly for appropriate imaging of specific anatomy. Assists Radiologists with performance of invasive procedures.

Summary:
Cath Lab Specific:
The Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Cardiologist for diagnostic and interventional procedures in roles that include scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating. The technologist must have knowledge of the X-ray equipment in use, hemodynamic monitoring, coronary and peripheral anatomy, and sterile technique.
Arrhythmia (EP) Specific:
The EP Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Electrophysiologist for non-invasive and invasive procedures. The technologist must have knowledge of the X-ray equipment in use, arrhythmia monitoring, cardio structures, anatomy of the heart chambers, and sterile technique.
Vascular Interventional (VIR) Specific:
The VIR Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Radiologist for minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures in roles that include scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating. The technologist must have knowledge of the various imaging equipment in use including fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), and ultrasound.
Neuro Interventional Specific:
The Neuro Interventional Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Neuro Interventional Radiologist for diagnostic and interventional procedures. The technologist must have knowledge of the X-ray equipment in use, hemodynamic monitoring, cerebral angiogram coiling, avascular malformations, stroke interventions and sterile technique.

Sonographic Arterial Duplex examinations of the upper or lower extremities either with or without provocative maneuvers. 5. Sonographic Venous Duplex examinations of the upper or lower extremities either with or without provocative maneuvers. 6. Sonographic Doppler Venous Waveform Analysis of the upper or lower extremities for the evaluation of venous insufficiency or reflux. 7. Sonographic Duplex examinations of Hemodialysis Access Sites including AV Fistulas and AV Grafts. 8. Sonographic Venous Duplex examinations of the upper or lower extremities with concurrent venous marking and vessel evaluation for pre-surgical planning. 9. Sonographic Duplex examinations of the renal vasculature including arterial and venous structures and flow dynamics. 10. Sonographic Duplex examinations of the Mesenteric Arteries. 1 1. Discusses and demonstrates testing protocols and criteria. 5. Instructs the technologist or student on interpreting the procedure and the proper method for preliminary reporting. 6. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education / Training:
Graduate of an approved ultrasound school and subsequent Accreditation through ARDMS. May be registered in OB/GYN, ABDOMEN, and BREAST, VASCULAR.
BLS is required within 90 days of hire.
Workplace Experience:
Preference of at least two years of work experience in hospital after graduation and accreditation; however, willing to train.
Equipment and Skills Training:
Will train on specific equipment and processes utilized at Williamson Medical Center.
Physical Environment:
Multi modality imaging department that provides OB/GYN, Abdominal, Vascular and Pelvic ultrasound studies, to include Pediatric Imaging.
Physical Effort:
Possesses the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operate equipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs to stretchers; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day to day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families, and physicians. Willing to provide portable studies for patients when it is in the best interest of the patient as deemed necessary by the patient's nurse or nursing supervisor.

This is a relief (on-call) position, utilized as-needed with no guarantee of hours.

What You'll Do
Perform ultrasound examinations unique to OB/GYN patients, i.e., pelvic ultrasound for aging and viability, nuchal thickness measurement for first-trimester screening, cervical lengths, anatomy scan, BPP, AFT, and all gynecologic/pelvic ultrasounds.
Escort patients to examination rooms, interpret patient histories and perform diagnostic sonography examinations
Manage physically/emotionally demanding work environment, respond to patient emergencies, and ensure patient safety and comfort
Document patient information accurately and timely
Liaise between patients and physicians as needed
Utilize feedback for technique improvement and adherence to safety policies
Provide support to clinical staff and perform other assigned duties
Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program
Experience:
1 year of ultrasound experience preferred, but not required
OBGYN experience preferred, but not required
Certifications: ARDMS OBGYN certification within 6 months of hire, CPR certification, NT certification preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, ultrasound practice, and medical terminology
Proficiency in operating desktop and Windows-based computer systems
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

OBGYN experience preferred, but not required
Certifications: ARDMS OBGYN certification within 6 months of hire, CPR certification, NT certification preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, ultrasound practice, and medical terminology
Proficiency in operating desktop and Windows-based computer systems
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle confidential information

*What you will do:*
Abiding by the Mercycare mission and values, under the direction of the Ultrasound Supervisor, the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs diagnostic sonography examinations in accordance with departmental policies and standards.
*Responsibilities:*
* Performs imaging as instructed
* Records and consults findings as appropriate
* Documents and reports all incidents in a timely fashion
*What you will need:*
* Registered or registry eligible by ARDMS
* Vascular board certified preferred
* A minimum of 2 years of experience
*Per Diem Flat Rate:* $46.00/hr.
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
