Providence Service company history timeline

1996

He left Youth Services in December 1996, less than a year and a half after joining the company, and founded Providence.

When McCusker set about organizing Providence in December 1996, social-service agencies were just beginning to respond to government initiatives geared toward privatization, spawning McCusker's visionary perspective on the development of the government-sponsored social services.

1997

The company acquired smaller versions of itself, completing its first "tuck-in" acquisition on February 5, 1997.

1999

Not long after releasing its annual financial statement for 1999, Providence began to benefit from increased national demand for alternative methods of providing social services, an interest that was noted by McCusker.

2000

In 2000, Providence Services “Costa Rica” opened its door in order to increase our network of international representatives.

2001

After recording a net loss totaling more than $2.6 million during its first three years of business, the company posted its first annual profit in 2001, registering $394,000 in net income.

2003

In early 2003, McCusker began to make plans for Providence's initial public offering (IPO) of stock.

2004

Nevertheless, Providence completed two acquisitions in the first half of 2004, perhaps indicating a more active posture on the acquisition front than McCusker articulated.

2008

Sierra Providence East Medical Center opened in 2008 to meet the growing healthcare needs of the East El Paso community.
