General Description:
Oversee the development and direction of the interscholastic and intramural athletic programs of all schools within the Proviso Township High Schools District 209.
The Athletic Director supervises and evaluates the athletics administrative assistant, activities coordinator, coaches, trainers, and athletic support personnel. The Athletics Director establishes a clear vision of excellence and ensures a quality, comprehensive, and equitable program of cocurricular athletics through authentic student, parent, staff, and community engagement.
Minimum Required Qualifications:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities*:
* Prepare and assist in the administration of athletic budget and coaching supplies; processing bills, game gratuities, travel and meal expenses, and legitimate reimbursements for athletic events to accounting office; schedule necessary travel and meal arrangements for athletic teams in the school district
* Initiate, develop and implement pre-high school athletic feeder programs
* Attend and participate in all required monthly West Suburban Conference (WSC) Athletic Director Meetings
* Actively participate in the creation and implementation of PTHS D209 policies and procedures that ensure healthy, safe, and supportive learning environments and athletic and activity opportunities for all Proviso students
* Formulate and administer an athletic inventory system
* Supervise and evaluate the coaching staff and athletic programs
* Provide timely hiring recommendations to H.R. for all athletic programs
* Provide oversight for the coordination of summer coaching camps (set dates & fees, coordinate facilities, prepare information for publications)
* Provide an annual report on the Athletic Department including student participation and involvement in Athletics programs
* Regularly utilize the appropriate system to enter and request in a timely manner, all required transportation for athletic events
* Provide oversight for intramural programming
* Provide weekly Student Eligibility Reports to coaches and implement with fidelity
* Administer the Proviso Code of Conduct and the Athletic Code of Conduct
* Ensure the supervision of home and away athletic contests
* Enforce compliance with health and safety codes and standards
* Oversee all protocols and procedures associated with injuries, returning to school, and returning to play (i.e. concussion protocols, etc.)
* Collaborate with Booster Club and Alumni Associations to support and strengthen athletic and activities opportunities
* East & West Athletic Directors, along with building Principals, will collaborate to plan, organize, and manage the D209 Holiday Basketball Tournament (held in December at West)
* Manage student eligibility processes (weekly checks, transfer students, etc.) and ensure compliance, of all staff and students, with all IHSA eligibility requirements
* Ensure NCAA compliance of all students and staff
* Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal, assistant superintendent, or superintendent for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school district.*

Stipends are not calculated based on hours worked and are considered payment for duties performed outside the regular instructional day. PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide athletic trainer coverage for high school athletic programs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The athletic trainer will practice said profession within the parameters of the Illinois Athletic Trainers Licensing Law as laid out by the Illinois Board of Athletic Trainer Examiners, and will follow both the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association. These duties are based on the needs of the school and its athletic programs. The athletic trainer's duties should not be considered all inclusive. The Athletic Director, as necessary, shall modify duties. The athletic trainer will be present at home athletic contests and practices and shall attend other post-season and home-hosted contests as directed by the Athletic Director:

Under the supervision of the Athletic Director, the coach assumes responsibility for the program, fostering a positive and disciplined team culture. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to work collaboratively within the school community. A successful track record in teaching and coaching is expected.
Qualifications Required Experience & Training:
* Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification, as mandated by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA).
* Compliance with Illinois state law and IHSA regulations regarding CPR and AED certification for all high school athletic coaches.
* Completion of IHSA-mandated concussion awareness training and other safety protocols as required by state and federal regulations, including the Youth Sports Concussion Safety Act (105 ILCS 5/22-80).
* Background check and fingerprinting clearance in accordance with the Illinois School Code and IHSA eligibility requirements.
* Completion of federal Title IX training to ensure compliance with anti-discrimination laws in athletics.
* In-depth knowledge of the sport, including rules, techniques, and strategies.
* Prior successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
* Strong instructional skills in both individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical conditioning.
* Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable athletic program that supports the academic and personal development of all student-athletes.
* Coaching Certification: For non-teaching staff, possession of a current coaching certification through the American Sport Education Program (ASEP), National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), or other IHSA-approved programs is required.
* Concussion Certification: Completion of state-mandated concussion certification is necessary, with certifications typically valid for two years.
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the Head Coach to design and run skill-development drills, practice plans, and conditioning sessions.
* Provide individualized feedback to student-athletes on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
* Assist with game-day logistics, including equipment setup, venue preparation, team warm-ups, and scorekeeping.
* Maintain and inventory athletic equipment, coordinating repairs, storage, and issuance.
* Monitor adherence to IHSA rules, district policies, and safety protocols, including CPR/AED readiness and concussion management.
* Support athlete eligibility tracking and manage required documentation, such as physical exams and academic clearances.
* Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff, serving as liaison and elevating concerns to the Head Coach as needed.
* Participate in preseason parent meetings, team briefings, mandatory trainings, and postseason tasks such as equipment returns and award presentations.
* Perform other responsibilities as assigned by administration.
* Assist the Head Coach and Athletic Director with developing the game schedule and coordinating travel logistics.
* Support budget management by tracking season expenditures, reconciling equipment orders, and maintaining inventory records.
* Help prepare materials for parent and booster meetings, support public-relations efforts, and disseminate program updates.
* Aid in preparing compliance documentation for Title IX, ISBE, IHSA, and district policies under the Head Coach's direction.
* Coordinate with the Athletic Director and Principal on equipment purchases, coaching assignments, and community partnerships.
* Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
This stipend position is a non-tenure, extra-duty assignment contingent upon sufficient student enrollment, program approval, and available funding. It is not subject to continued renewal and may be discontinued at the district's discretion. This position is exempt from overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Stipends are not calculated based on hours worked and are considered payment for duties performed outside the regular instructional day. Subject to satisfactory criminal background clearance and drug screening as required by Illinois School Code and District policy. This is an at-will, extra-duty appointment and may be discontinued at the District's discretion.
