Steel Production Manager (FT)

The overall responsibility of this role is to manage steel fabrication. This position requires experience in welding and steel fabrication. QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 5 years of related experience is required in steel fabrication and welding.
Ability to read and interpret dimensional blueprints to plan and layout fabrication design dimensions.
Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting stringent deadlines.
Strong interpersonal, team-building, communication, problem-solving, and planning skills.
Experience with PowerFab is a plus, but not required.
Experience with Vista software is a plus, but not required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mentor and train direct reports.
Develop and implement a training program for welders and fitters.
Assist the VP in establishing improved processes and procedures.
Assist the PM with technical support to meet project demands.
Manage budgets and overhead.
Help create new revenue streams.
Manage labor hours to reduce overhead.
Maintain health and safety standings.
Ensure safety training occurs regularly.
Meet production schedules.
Implement Tekla for production and AISC tracking.
Generate production reports using Tekla.
Evaluate shop flow & layout using Tekla.
Assist in onboarding new equipment.
Manage and maintain equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
Lead weekly shop production meetings.
Discuss project-specific needs with business partners.
Understand quality standards and customer expectations for each job.
Review and update production schedules.
Prepare weekly production reports.
Pounds completed vs hours spent on each job.
Prepare a worklist for weekend work.
Work with employees to schedule needed work.
Make sure workers have the needed material to complete the work.
WORK AVAILABILITY:
Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by management.
Must be available Monday through Friday from 5 am to 5 pm with occasional Saturdays and hours outside of the listed time.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Stand and walk for long periods of time outdoors in heat and cold.
May be required to wear a mask or face covering while in the shop, and must be in sufficient health to do so.
Ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds on occasion.
Must have the hand and finger dexterity to work a keyboard.
