Laboratory Assistant FT - 2513041 Description JOB PURPOSE: Coordinates the day-to-day functions of the laboratory along with specimen collection, and processing of samples adequately to ensure the highest quality of care to our clients. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Handles laboratory data collection systems and equipment to ensure requests for laboratory tests are properly ordered, cancelled and charged.
2. Performs specimen collection procedures.
3. Performs specimen processing, preparation and distribution of specimens.
4. Maintains a constant awareness of policies and procedures
5. Effectively communicates on the phone and face to face by being courteous, prompt and polite. Ability to document all information correctly.
6. Assist with laboratory temperatures and maintenance.
7. Orders and maintains testing and laboratory supplies
8. Responsible for keeping all laboratory areas clean and properly stocked.
9. Handles information with discretion and always maintains confidentiality.
10. Coordinates and consults with lab manager regarding lab related issues.
11. Able to work independently and in a team environment.
12. Comply with all OSHA, CLIA, and federal regulations.
13. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
14. Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
• Computer- must be proficient with Microsoft office and other software programs
• Participates in center/agency surveys (Licensure/JCAHO) and any subsequently required reports.
• Attends and participates in continuing educational programs to keep abreast of changes in your field as well as to maintain current license/certification, as required.
• Attends and participates in mandatory in-services.
• Honors patients/residents' rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints.
• Complies with corporate compliance program.
• Reports job-related functions/tasks that involve occupational hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids and others as necessary.

• Follows established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment Qualifications MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistant program or Approved phlebotomy training program or
Have at least a two (2) year degree in chemical, physical or biological science or health related specialty.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Experience preferred but not necessary.
