Responsibilities This role oversees, manages and leads the daily operation of Maintenance Control department and reports to the Sr. Manger of Maintenance Control. Ensures clear communication to the other partners in the Operations Control Center (OCC) and other departments. * Provides leadership and guidance to the Maintenance Control department while on shift and is responsible for all maintenance activities and personnel assigned. * Monitors and reviews all maintenance activities system-wide, such as MEL, NEF, CDL, MWI activity on the fleet, reviews for accuracy and schedules repair in a timely manner. * Maintains department goals, and performance objectives. * Ensures effective communication to VP of Tech Ops, Tech Ops leadership, and OCC operational departments. * Conducts conference calls and meetings as required. * Notifies leadership of any significant events, and ensures proper follow-up has been performed including: coding in TRAX, station coordination, and proper filing of corrective actions. * Works directly with the OCC Ops Managers to ensure company-wide Category messaging is accurate when related to Maintenance activities. * Coordinates all discrepancies with the applicable department to reduce impact to the operational schedule. Including but not limited to the following (Maintenance Programs, Engineering, Maintenance Planning, Quality Assurance, Flight Dispatch, and Maintenance Stations). * Oversees and counsels Maintenance Controllers for comprehensive fixes on all CAR (Corrective Action Reports) from the Quality Assurance team. * Maintains oversight of the work schedules of the Maintenance Control department ensuring adequate coverage. * Reviews work turnovers for completion and accuracy. * Oversees the daily operation assist MOC supervisors as necessary. * Ensures all Maintenance control training is up to date and coordinate with maintenance training for any new training requirements. * Conducts new hire training, coaches, guides, builds positive work environment and motivates staff. * Manages performance and accountability of Maintenance Controllers, Maintenance Control Specialists and Supervisors. * May perform other responsibilities as assigned. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring operational excellence of all wash processes, maximizing machine efficiency, scheduling planned machine maintenance, and engagement in CAPEX projects within service center. Monitors Flight Schedules and fleet status to ensure best use of resources, ground time and aircraft routing. Coordinates line maintenance requirements with MCC, Workload Planning, Materials, Quality Control, and A/C Planning Departments. Maintains surveillance of line maintenance activity at assigned station(s) / geographic area. Coordinates resources and technical support as necessary in cases of major mechanical events or AOG situations. Improve efficiency and reliability by identifying recurring problems and recommending changes in procedures. Responsible for coordinating the timely repair of deferred maintenance items on aircraft transiting assigned station(s) and/or geographic area. Ensures shift turnover and work interruption procedures are followed to ensure incomplete maintenance work is completed before an aircraft is returned to service. Ensures station(s) provide accurate and timely updates to MCC for maintenance and aircraft AOG status information. Monitors maintenance history, AHM, Repeat Item, and Oil Watch Programs. Formulates corrective action plans for mechanical problems and deferred maintenance items in coordination with MCC. Maintains communication with Regional Director to ensure cost-effective application. Ensures station(s) are performing timely entry of log page discrepancies and parts changes in TRAX. Ensures personnel in their assigned station(s) / geographic areas are versed in the use of the TRAX system. Ensures station(s) are monitoring spare engine status and engine change kit readiness. Maintains liaison with Ground Operations and Flight Operations to ensure safe and dependable operations. Enforces safety procedures and practices outlined in company manuals and industry standards. Performs duties and responsibilities at field locations away from home base as assigned. Flies on company aircraft as assigned to support aircraft operations around the world. Performs self-audits of station(s) / geographic area as needed. Develops and manages station(s) / geographic area budget(s). Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant years experience Must hold a current and valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings. Must maintain Atlas Air qualification and authorization for Airworthiness Release for aircraft assigned to station(s)/region. 9-13 years of experience on 747/767/777 aircraft or equivalent wide body aircraft and 737NG aircraft or equivalent narrow body aircraft required. Managerial experience is required. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of line maintenance at their assigned station(s) including contract maintenance personnel and maintenance managers.
