    Physician Assistant With the supervision of a Physician, (as per O.R.C. 4730) the PA-C provides medical care, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to patients with complex, acute, and chronic health conditions. This medical care may be in a variety of clinical settings. Assesses health status by obtaining relevant health and medical history. Performs a physical exam based upon the age and patient history as per the Supervisory Agreement in place with OSMB. Must be able to work with autonomy within Ohio law under direction of supervising physician. Identifies significant health and medical risk factors. Orders, interprets and evaluates laboratory test and other diagnostic studies to assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Develops a diagnosis by analyzing and synthesizing collected data. Develops a treatment plan along with the patient and significant others as directed and reviewed by physician. Performs diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with certification, law and Akron Children's Hospital privileges. May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through Ohio Board of Medicine and hospital policy. Develops patient education plan. Collaborates with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care. May serve as clinical preceptor for PA students. Other duties as assigned. Outpatient Practice emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health problems. Participates in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a bi-annual basis to assure quality care and per ORC requirements. This review is completed via the Focused Professional Performance Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Performance Evaluation (OPPE) for Advanced Practice Providers as part of Joint Commission requirements. Responsibilities: Inpatient Provides medical care to patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions, including the delivery of acute care services. Practice with a variety of specialty-based populations including neonatal, pediatric, and adult. Practices in any setting in which patients require complex monitoring and therapies, high intensity medical intervention, or continuous vigilance within the range of high-acuity care. Participates in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a bi-annual basis to assure quality care and per ORC requirements. POSITION SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES/INDICATORS Behavioral Indicators • Evaluates care daily when making rounds. • Documents assessment, plan, care provided, teaching and discharge planning. • Completes Bureau of Worker=s Compensation forms • Monitors and intervenes to promote patient safety, notifies supervisor and documents events appropriately. • Offers expertise to staff and residents, providing reference materials when appropriate. • Participates in on-going education for nurses and physicians through presentations and in-services. • Assists with development of educational materials • Modifies practice utilizing current research. • Maintain membership in American Burn Association. • Assists in writing/revising policies and procedures for Burn Center. Other information: Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies Preferred. Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program. Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Ohio, Current NCCPA (National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistant) certification. Must have Supervision Agreement filed, current certificate to practice and certificate to prescribe (or eligible) by Ohio Board of Medicine. Must obtain credentialing as an active member of medical staff and appropriate medical staff privileges. Current Health Care Provider BLS training is required. Individuals hired without an MS Degree and those hired without a certificate to prescribe (or CTP eligible) must actively pursue and obtain a MS degree/certificate to prescribe.     Nationally certified Advanced Practice Provider who provides primary and/or specialty care in a variety of healthcare settings. Functions in collaboration with the health care team in accordance with certification and licensure. Responsible for dissemination of knowledge through instructing, leading and developing educational programs. Marymount Hospital is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider for their Internal Medicine Service. This position will encompass care for patients on Med/Surg units. This position is full-time evenings and is subject to change at any time based on the Hospital's needs. The ideal candidate has direct experience performing comprehensive physical assessments and managing routine and complex medical conditions with a high level of autonomy. New graduate applicants would ideally have completed fellowship, inpatient clinical rotations, including internal medicine, during graduate training. Previous experience in inpatient medicine, inpatient consult services, critical care and/or EPIC is a plus. Responsibilities: Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations (where indicated), initiates appropriate lab, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness, and scrutinizes lab data to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan. Works in collaboration with the health care team. Performs and interprets common laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic and other routine diagnostic procedures used to identify pathophysiologic processes as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals. Performs routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Body of the applicable hospitals. May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by license through applicable state board and Cleveland Clinic policies. Educates patients and answers questions regarding their disease, treatments, related drug and treatment side effects and hazards. Participates in medical team rounds; collaborates with nursing, medical and other healthcare team members regularly to ensure quality patient care. Refers patients to specialists as appropriate for consultation or for specialized health resources and treatment. Ensures continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team or with other specialty areas as necessary. Participates in quality monitoring thru the review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a periodic basis to assure quality care. Facilitates appropriate length of stay, discharge planning and compliance with regulatory standards for inpatient management. Supports professional development of the health care team.
