A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides psychiatric clinical services for patients. Performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Consult with MD/Psychiatrist/LCSW on patients via eCW, telephone encounter, and/or with patient visits Consult with MD/Psychiatrist on medication management, via eCW, telephone encounter, and/or visit with patient as needed to address BH concerns Provide clinical care (medication management/psych evaluations) for patients to support efforts to achieve care plan goals, in support of ongoing care by MD/Psychiatrist/LCSW, with referral back to ongoing care with clinical team Participate in case conferencing and high-risk meetings with LCSW/MD/Psychiatrist and care teams Approval of treatment plans for patients in BH care at Sun River Participate in efforts to support Sun River's primary care and BH integration efforts Ensure appropriate transitions of care with external providers, PCP, hospitals, etc. Respond to Sun River clinical teams for crisis intervention Interviews, diagnoses and evaluates patients referred for psychiatric assessment Participates as a team member in conferences concerned with diagnosis and treatment planning Writes reports and documentation as required Consults with other mental health and medical provider staff regarding treatment of patients Prescribes psychotropic medication as needed and monitors its effectiveness Provides in-service training to professional and paraprofessional staff Reviews case records to monitor quality of care Must demonstrate knowledge and skill necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span Must be able to identify and categorize each patient's age-specific grouping of needs, such as those for infant, adolescent, or geriatric patients Must be familiar with the process of diagnosing and treating patients with substance use disorder and make appropriate referrals when necessary Minimum Education Requirement: Master's Degree Minimum Licensure: Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry and CPR/BLS Required Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment procedures that nurse practitioners are trained to do and are necessary for practicing in health care centers. Correctional Health Services The New York City jail system is the second largest in the nation. A significant number of individuals in the NYC jail system will receive care on the mental health service. The service strives to provide safe, holistic and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for the diverse range of mental health issues that face the population, from serious mental illness to the natural struggles that accompany incarceration. The service provides some of the most comprehensive and unique treatment modalities in the country, including specialty housing units for individuals with serious mental illness, a 24-hour on-call psychiatric service, robust creative arts programming, clinics in each of the facilities, substance use treatment, medication assisted treatment (MAT), integrated re-entry services that includes alternatives to incarceration, and relationships with multiple training institutions throughout the city. Furthermore, CHS has been engaged in an effort to better identify people with neurodevelopmental/neurocognitive disorders and to utilize psychological testing to connect people to services in the community (e.g., with OPWDD). The Supervising Psychiatrist is a psychiatric leader of a facility, clinical area, or program and works in close collaboration with the Mental Health Unit Chief, Clinical Supervisors, and Senior Psychiatrist (if applicable) to ensure that safe, holistic, and evidence-based psychiatric care is provided to incarcerated patients with varying levels of mental health needs. A team-based approach to care is critical; one that incorporates all relevant mental health and medical disciplines as well as security staff. A major component of this position will be training, recruiting and retaining high quality staff and providing strong leadership and mentorship for existing staff. Detailed Tasks: Ensure the highest possible quality of mental health care both in the facility and in collaboration with the other jail facilities in the system. This includes active participation in quality improvement, staff and patient safety initiatives, treatment supervision, and personnel mentorship and management. In coordination with the facility-specific Mental Health Unit Chief, design, implementation, ongoing review, and monitoring of relevant clinical facility-specific procedures, policies and operating manuals Direct clinical individual and group supervision of the relevant psychiatric prescribing staff, including psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and psychiatric physician assistants. This supervision must include both in vivo reviews of clinical skills as well as chart review. Close collaboration, including regularly scheduled meetings, with other relevant disciplines within the mental health, medical, nursing and operations departments, as well as the Department of Correction Ensure that medication renewals are completed in a timely manner Educate clinical staff about new developments regarding best practices in all aspects of psychiatric care, with specific attention to the challenges and issues facing a jail setting (e.g., influence of legal case, dual loyalty, medication diversion) Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards In collaboration with the Mental Health Unit Chief, oversee the orientation of new staff to the facility or program Conduct regular and multi-disciplinary case conferences Report on an as-needed basis to the CHS Morbidity and Mortality review committee. Work in collaboration with the Mental Health Unit Chief to manage clinical schedules, vacation requests, CME activities and other relevant activities as they pertain to psychiatric staffing and education Participate in policy revision and creation, and practice guideline creations, related to psychiatric care, including input into the psychiatric medication formulary Lead at least monthly interdisciplinary mental health staff meetings in coordination with the Mental Health Unit Chief, Clinical Supervisor and Senior Psychiatrist (if applicable). Personnel management of clinical staff, including setting quality standards, establishing effective recruitment and retention strategies, and managing workforce complaints At least 75% of time devoted to direct clinical care, which may include direct supervision of psychiatric trainees. For smaller facilities or programs with less supervisory need, more direct patient care will be expected On-call responsibilities for two weeks at a time, one to times/year, for off-hours issues that require high level clinical intervention Other duties at the discretion of the Medical Director of Mental Health, the Chief of Service, or respective Senior Psychiatrist, if applicable. Job Summary Job Summary: We are seeking a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner with at least one year of outpatient cardiology experience to support a growing cardiology service line. This role works collaboratively with cardiologists and clinical staff to provide high-quality, patient-centered cardiovascular care in an outpatient setting.     Job Description The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in New York City seeks a board-certified (ACVIM or ECVIM) or board-eligible cardiologist to lead our practice and work with administration to further expand and grow AMC's cardiology services. They will help assure excellence in postgraduate teaching and training, oversee our ACVIM cardiology residency training program, and encourage clinical investigation. They will also ensure outstanding client experience and build relationships with the veterinary community. DVM or equivalent degree is required. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced DVM in cardiology looking to take his/her career to the next level and work in a newly constructed, state-of-the-art facility. Clinical and/or basic science research experience is preferred. Opportunities for collaborative research exist both at AMC as well as with the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, Weill Cornell Medical School, and NYU. AMC is actively looking to increase its research capabilities over the coming years. The Cardiology Service includes experienced, licensed veterinary technicians (LVTs), two ACVIM cardiology diplomates, two cardiology residents, a cardiology specialty intern, and a rotating intern. Equipment includes a GE Vivid 9 ultrasound system with 4 echo-pac stations for post-processing and report writing, a mobile GE echo machine with TEE probe, Holter recorders, Biotronik and Medtronic pacemaker interrogators, and other equipment. Cardiac catheterizations are performed in our state-of-the-art interventional radiology catheterization laboratory. Our 24/7 ICU is equipped with telemetry. A new, world-class facility is due to open in early 2025, along with a new Cardiology Suite for direct patient care. AMC has many clinical resources. Diagnostic imaging services are provided 7 days per week. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are available on-site. A commercial diagnostic laboratory housed within AMC provides 7-day per week service and an on-site clinical pathologist.
