Essential Functions: Evaluates and treats patients with wide spectrum of chronic pain conditions including cancer pain as well as non-cancer pain conditions affecting back, neck, joints and other musculoskeletal structures as well as peripheral neuropathies including diabetic neuropathy and autoimmune neuropathies to improve their functional capabilities in an Out-Patient environment. Prescribe Opioid and non-opioid therapy while adhering to Federal and California State Opioid prescribing guidelines. Also treat patients with opioid use disorders including suboxone therapy. Orders appropriate tests, treatments and counsels, as needed. Performs complete, detailed and accurate patient histories. Reviews patient records to develop comprehensive medical status reports. Orders laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies appropriate for complaint, age, race, sex and physical condition of the patient. Completes physical examinations and records pertinent data in acceptable medical forms. Makes medical diagnoses and institutes therapy or patient referrals to the appropriate health care facilities, agencies, resources of the community, or other physicians. Obtains and interprets patient data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, as needed. Develops and implements action plan for practice changes to enhance patient outcomes in chronic pain. Work collaboratively with Pain Physicians and other advanced practice providers in the practice as well as nursing and ancillary staff. Transcribes and executes specific orders at the direction of the Supervising Physician. Compiles detailed narrative and case summaries. Works under minimal supervision. Completes forms pertinent to patients' medical records and issues diagnostic orders, which must be signed within specified time period as defined by hospital guidelines. Interprets and evaluates patient data to determine patient management and treatment. Mentors, develops, inspires, educates and leads staff members in patient care setting. Enhances efficiency and cost effectiveness by identifying opportunities to decrease costs, as applicable to the job. Provides instructions and guidance regarding medical care matters to patients. Performs or assists with routine medical techniques and procedures. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Essential Functions The FNP plans patient care using skills specific to their individual training and experience and works under established protocols. (See protocol manual.) Assists in developing new protocols as needed to correct identified QA problems. Billing and Financial Planning: Completes billing forms and causes patient information pertinent to accurate billing. Diagnoses are problem related and clearly documented. Works closely with the Lake Almanor Clinic Manager to correct any errors on bills and uses appropriate billing codes and amounts when needed. Communicates clearly with Administration and/or Lake Almanor Clinic Manager with ample lead time for any needed equipment or supplies. Other Functions: Assists in in-service education and orientation of nursing personnel as requested. Assists in evaluating clinical capabilities of Licensed Vocational Nurses and Medical Assistants in conjunction with the Lake Almanor Clinic Manager, CNO, and physicians Attends Medical Staff meetings as able. Reviews all Family Nurse Practitioner protocols with the Clinical Medical Director annually. Keeps CNO and Lake Almanor Clinic Manager appraised of changes, needs, or concerns which affect clinical nursing aspects of care. Assists in arranging nursing staff training in conjunction with the CNO and the Lake Almanor Clinic Manager. Keeps lines of communication open between local physicians and their patients, referring patients back to their care providers and keeping their care providers informed of episodic care provided in the Clinic. Follows all general and Clinic safety, security, and health policies and procedures. Utilizes all safe work practices recommended for the Clinic. Maintains CONFIDENTIALITY of all patient care information to assure patients' rights are protected. Other duties that become necessary or as directed by supervisor.
