Responsibilities:
Care for wide variety of complex cardiology patients in a busy cardiology practice, working in both in-patient and out-patient settings
Perform and document applicable clinical history and physical examinations
Order appropriate laboratory, imaging studies, and diagnostic procedures
Interpret data from above studies to formulate a suitable treatment plan, collaborating with supervising physicians as indicated
Instruct patients and family regarding implications of results and rationale for treatment plans
When greater depth of knowledge is required, help nursing staff in relaying results and returning patient phone calls
Serve as resource to referring physicians, addressing concerns when a patient?s primary cardiologist is unavailable
Possible to train in cardiology sub-specialty pending interest

The FNP track emphasizes eliminating barriers to health through peaceful, just, and collaborative actions that uphold and improve human potential. Graduates are eligible to apply for certification as Family NursePractitioners (FNPs) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and American Academy of NursePractitioners (AANP).
Preferred candidates will be committed to teaching and mentoring in the DNP-FNP track of the DNP program. Responsibilities for this full-time position (11-month appointment, 0.75) will include teaching, academic advising, supervision of student DNP projects, and service to the university. Preferred candidates will also have experience providing care for diverse populations in primary care, integrative care, or functional medicine. Classes are offered mostly during weekdays, with occasional evening classes. Classes are a blend of hybrid, including online synchronous and asynchronous sessions, as well as in-person on-campus meetings (usually 4-6 times a semester for the in-person sessions). This position includes being a robust team member of the Department of Nursing, including attending faculty meetings, participating in curriculum development/revisions when necessary, evaluating program outcomes, and ensuring accreditation compliance.
All faculty are afforded time for professional practice or scholarship. This time for professional activity aligns with our commitment to integrate clinical practice and/or scholarship with teaching.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in nursing prior to assuming the position.
Current, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) / Certified NursePractitioner (CNP) in the State of Minnesota, or eligibility for RN and APRN licensure in Minnesota.
Certified as a Family NursePractitioner (FNP).
Ability to maintain active clinical practice as a Family NursePractitioner, averaging one day per week.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience in online, hybrid, and/or in-person modality
Graduate-level course teaching experience
Demonstrated commitment to values of healthcare for all with transcultural experience and skills
Experience in leadership within nursing practice
Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level
Five years of experience in the nursing profession
Experience with practicing in primary care, integrative care, or functional medicine

Priority will be given to a candidate demonstrating interest and strength in teaching with an emphasis on primary care, integrative and holistic health, transcultural nursing, and leadership in the discipline.
