The authority and duties of the Certified Nurse Practitioner shall include but not be limited to:

Requirements
Master of Science Degree in Nursing. Typical Week

Job Duties
Performs Behavioral Health utilization management reviews for inpatient, outpatient, and intermediate-level services using nationally recognized criteria (e.g., MCG, InterQual, ASAM).

Collaborates with Behavioral Health Medical Directors on complex or borderline cases, ensuring consistent application of criteria and alignment with regulatory standards.

Maintains compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements (e.g., NCQA, URAC, CMS).

Job Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing from an accredited program.
Completion of a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at the master's level with current national certification (PMHNP-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Practitioner, ideally in managed care, behavioral health, or utilization management.
Demonstrated experience in the application of medical necessity criteria and regulatory guidelines.
Active, unrestricted state license to practice as a PMHNP in KY, TX, FL, WA with the ability to obtain cross-state licensure as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
The authority and duties of the Certified Nurse Practitioner shall include but not be limited to:
Obtains a complete health and psychosocial assessment that includes health history and physical examination; records findings in a systematic, accurate, and succinct form.
Implements treatment regimens for acute and chronically ill patients according to established protocols.
Recalls patients and provides information to the patient and his/her family about diagnosis or plan of therapy following physician-nurse appraisal.
Orders, performs, and interprets routine laboratory tests and X-ray reports for normalcy.
Provides assessment, education, and management of individuals/families in family planning.

Requirements:
Master of Science Degree in Nursing. Successful completion of an advanced nurse practitioner education program, accepted by the American Nurses' Association, the Nurses' Association of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, or the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associate and Practitioners. Holds a certificate as a nurse practitioner in a specialty area of nursing one of the above certifying agents Holds a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Georgia and Alabama. Has a minimum of two years of related clinical nursing experience.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice. Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology and management of acute and chronic patient/family problems.
High level of analytic ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail.
Substantial interpersonal skills necessary to instruct patients and their families and to collaborate with health team members and to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.

MDS PC is experienced in providing medical services in an SNF setting with an understanding of how to give effective medical care in an SNF as well as an understanding of the survey process. We are currently providing services in facilities with specialty units and provide appropriate medical personal with the experience in treating residents on a vent. It is standard for our providers to reach out to the surrounding hospitals to ensure that we have good communications in terms of the continuation of care. We put a major focus on reducing the number of medications as well as the requirements with narcotics and psych meds.
