Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide medical/psychiatric care provided in the behavioral health, mental health, and addiction settings on the psychiatric inpatient and outpatient services. Direct care physician coverage for behavioral health and related programs. Supervise and evaluate physician-extenders and students or residents assigned to behavioral health program settings as directed by the Medical Director. Provide medical supervision and evaluation of Clinical Psychologists, licensed professional counselors (LPCs), licensed clinical social workers (MSWs) as assigned. Refers only the very difficult cases to another specialist. Provides for medical aspects of behavioral health care needs of patients in the inpatient setting. Instructs patients on specific treatment. Transfers patients to Cherokee Indian Hospital inpatient or elsewhere for admission as needed. Refers patients to contract hospitals for medical care and surgery not provided at Cherokee Indian Hospital. Evaluate patient through conversations, interviews, and observation. Contacts with patients' families are to provide information on patient's condition and to counsel family on care required. A significant amount of contacts involve resolution of problems in treatment of patients through discussion with consulting specialists, federal and state health officials, and patients' families, each with their own set of beliefs, objectives and goals. The Nurse Practitioner is expected to demonstrate advanced medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competence, sound clinical judgment, professional communication skills, and adherence to timely and compliant documentation standards in the company provided EHR. They are also responsible for their ongoing professional development, including maintaining required certifications and license renewals. Specific Responsibilities: NPs will deliver comprehensive medication management services and timely, compliant documentation for all members. Assists in decision making pertaining to the medical care of patients that is consistent with current medical practice and REVIDA RECOVERY CENTER policies and procedures; Provides backup call coverage; Serves in a teaching capacity for the training and development of other personnel; Responsible for securing physical exams and history from the patient, reviewing medical records, making medical evaluations, requesting appropriate diagnostic testing, prescribing medications and treatments, assisting in the management of behavioral or mental health problems of patients, maintaining current medical records in accordance with federal or state regulation, and clinic or corporate policies and procedures; and, Refer patients to PCP and/or specialist when necessary; Discuss patient's care as part of the multidisciplinary treatment team Collaborate with referral sources, internal team members, and external service providers to ensure appropriate patient care and continuity of care Interpret test results to diagnose health issues; provide feedback to patients Complete patient evaluations and physical exams with thorough, timely documentation to include coordination of care Complete full and appropriate documentation to support professional billing for services Perform follow up visits to include detailed, timely documentation, including patients' progress with medication and/or treatment Participates in provider meetings and staff meetings as determined by the Medical Director Facilitates leadership regarding new findings in the field of addictions treatment Demonstrate use of evidence-based practices Commitment to process improvement Requirements Minimum Requirements: Education: Master of Nursing Experience: Have experience working with individuals with substance use and other co-occurring mental disorders. License/certifications: Licensed in the State of TN or VA and must have or be able to obtain a DATA2000 waiver to prescribe buprenorphine Background check: ability to pass routine state/federal criminal background check and be eligible for credentialing under CMS and commercial health plans Special Requirements: Required/Maintained state trainee status, intern, registration, training standing, and associate level clinical licensure. Knowledge of applicable State Code of Regulations and 42 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Section 8.12. Compliance with accepted professional standards and practices; Adherence to the NAADAC Code of Ethics and any other Codes of Ethics for the individual's respective field.
