We are seeking a dedicated Ob/Gyn Physician to join our multidisciplinary team in San Jose, CA, providing high-quality outpatient gynecological, obstetric, prenatal, and educational care in a patient-centered environment. This role includes evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, patient education, and referrals, as well as oversight of midlevel practitioners and clinical staff. The physician will help ensure smooth patient flow, collaborate across departments, and support care for a diverse, multicultural community.
Responsibilities
Provide outpatient GYN, prenatal, and post-partum care including exams, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and health education.
Serve as a consultant for Ob/Gyn cases referred by other providers.
Educate patients and families about preventive care, diagnosis, treatments, and medications.
Request referrals for labs, tests, and specialty services as needed.
Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in compliance with regulations.
Support EHR documentation and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Supervise and provide medical backup to Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.
Participate in program planning, protocol development, and in-service training for staff.
Support medical interns and student professionals as needed.
Flexible scheduling required, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
Completion of accredited Ob/Gyn residency.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ob/Gyn
Current California medical license and DEA registration.
Current BLS certification (AHA approved).
Background check required.
Preferred: 1 year of experience, community/public health background, bilingual Spanish.

What you will do
Evaluates and treats patients with acute, chronic complaints and health maintenance concerns related to specialty.
Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings on new and return patients.

Administers medications according to the formulary protocol or upon patient-specific approval from the supervising physician, or transmits orally or in writing on a patient?s record, a prescription from the supervising physician to a person who may furnish such medication. Orders and collects specimens for routine laboratory tests, screening procedures and therapeutic procedures, including blood and blood products.
Orders physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology examinations and nursing services.
Performs designated procedures after demonstrated competency, according to written standardized procedures where applicable.
Obtains informed consent, as indicated.
Initiates arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and completes appropriate paperwork.
As directed by the supervising physician, enrolls patients in investigational studies approved by the Investigational Review Board (IRB), and orders the necessary tests and medications. [see Standardized Procedure: Administering, Ordering, Furnishing or Prescribing of Drugs; Formulary Protocol] Medications that are not FDA-approved or are used for a non-FDA- approved indication (off-label use) require a patient-specific order in advance from the supervising physician.

Acts as first or second assistant under the supervision of an approved supervising physician.
Performs surgical procedures in the personal presence of the supervising physician.
Recognizes and considers age-specific needs of patients.
Effectively communicates and interacts with patients, families, staff and members of the community from diverse backgrounds.
Recognizes situations which require the immediate attention of a physician, and initiates life-saving procedures when necessary.
Facilitates the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services as needed.

Required Qualifications
* A doctorate in nursing or a related field (e.g. DNSc, DrPH, EdD, DNP, PhD) at time of appointment. If a doctorate is not in nursing, a BSN or Master's must be in nursing. A baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing with master's degree which includes coursework in nursing, nursing education or administration.
* National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
* Possession of an unrestricted CA RN license and one year of teaching experience in a Registered Nurse education program.
* A minimum of 1 year of recent (within the past 5 years) experience in FNP practice, providing evidence-based, direct patient care in the above areas of practice. Clinical teaching applies toward direct patient care.
* Record of publications or strong potential for publications.
* Applicants should demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
Priority will be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following:
* Experience in online and/or in person teaching, academic information technology, and graduate level teaching.
* CCNE/NONPF standards knowledge, self-study experience
* Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct impactful interdisciplinary research/scholarship with an interest on AI, Health technology, etc.
* Knowledge of disciplinary trends in nursing regarding issues of race, gender, sexual orientation, immigration, and underserved communities.
* Experience working with racially diverse students in the classroom, and an understanding of historical patterns of exclusion of groups within higher education, and the profession, shape patterns of participation and outcomes
* An active and well-articulated research agenda, coupled with interest and ability to secure external grant funding.
Key Responsibilities
* The primary responsibilities of the accepted candidate will be to teach both undergraduate (BSN, RN-BSN, CEP) and graduate courses (master's and/or Doctor of Nursing Practice).
* Additional responsibilities may include a combination of classroom, online, and clinical teaching, and supervision of graduate and/or DNP students' projects.
* Further responsibilities include a commitment to teaching and participation in evidence-based practice and advanced nursing research; maintaining clinical expertise; advising students; and effective team collaboration across the School of Nursing.
* Teaching effectiveness, scholarly/professional achievement, and service to students and university are required for retention, tenure, and promotion.
* Development and an ongoing record of research, scholarship, and/or creative activities, as well as other professional engagement is required.
* The candidate will participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments. [required]
* Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). [required]
* The candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience in understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity - in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation - through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement. [required]
