Job Description Position Type: Full-Time Department: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) A Children's Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, the only free-standing children's hospital in the Commonwealth, is seeking additional full-time Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NP) to join a dynamic, 32-bed multi-disciplinary Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The PICU collaborates with the University of Virginia in the Congenital Cardiac Surgery program, providing specialized care for post-operative cardiac patients within a diverse PICU population. Responsibilities Provide high-quality, acute care to critically ill pediatric patients in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary PICU. Collaborate with a team of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to manage complex medical and surgical cases, including post-operative cardiac patients. Participate in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients requiring intensive care, including those on ECMO and trauma cases. Perform procedures and interventions consistent with Acute Care NP training and scope of practice. Work closely with the Congenital Cardiac Surgery program to support specialized care for cardiac patients. Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with families and healthcare teams. Minimum Requirements Experience: Prior Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience required.
