A General Psychiatrist, under the clinical supervision of the Medical Director, performs psychiatric assessments and evaluations for individuals receiving mental health services. This employee ensures that all documentation of client treatment services is complete, timely, thorough and accurate, to meet all agency, state and professional standards. An employee in this class provides psychopharmacological services including medication evaluation, consents, monitoring and orders for appropriate laboratory tests, reviews them and authorizes prescriptions. An employee in this class also provides psychiatric treatment, planning and consultation and/or coordination of care for individuals receiving services. A General Psychiatrist will provide supervision and teaching to Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners as required by professional and agency standards. A General Psychiatrist may provide educational presentations to agency staff and community organizations as authorized by agency administration and performs other work duties as assigned.
1. Must possess a medical degree from an accredited college or university.
2. Must possess a current State of Michigan Medical License, Controlled Substance License and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License.
3. Must have certification in Adult Psychiatry through American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Inc. (ABPN), OR the ability to achieve certification within one (1) year of employment.
4. Have post graduate clinical training or one (1) year of experience in the field including diagnosing and treating persons with mental illness, developmental disabilities and co-occurring disorders.

The department of Psychiatry, Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) seeks a board eligible or board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist to join its growing academic department. The psychiatry residency program is a fully accredited program with 24 residents (6 per year with accreditation up to 8 per year). This is a newer medical school that is looking to expand and enhance psychiatric clinical services, research, and both medical student and resident training. There are significant clinical and research collaborations with community mental health care (SWMBH and ISK), the VA system (BCVHA), and collaborative care psychiatry arrangements with a number of Bronson primary care, family medicine, obstetrics and pediatric practice groups. Western Michigan University has a long history of teaching and training for individuals with autism spectrum disorder, and is a leader this area regionally. In addition, there is a strong group of doctoral level psychologists within the Department of Pediatrics, providing subspecialty care to children in the community.
Responsibilities
We are seeking board certified or eligible psychiatrists who are interested and passionate about patient care, teaching and clinical research. The candidate will join 1.5 full-time child psychiatrists who are currently on the faculty. Clinical responsibilities will include a combination of inpatient adolescent and partial program, outpatient through the community mental health provider (CMH), Integrated Services of Kalamazoo (ISK), and consultative work. For a qualified candidate, the possibility of building a child and adolescent fellowship program will be explored. This opportunity features:

The medical group's OB/GYN department currently consists of 6 OB/GYN hospitalists, 24 OB GYN Generalists, 4 Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists, 29 midwives and 7 Women's Nurse Practitioner. The physician in this position will be responsible for working collaboratively with other physicians and care team members to provide the highest standard of comprehensive medical care in a patient-centered, compassionate environment. The OB GYN Hospitalist will provide coverage for the labor and delivery unit which will include high-risk obstetrical patients and midwifery back up. In addition, they will provide consultation for GYN patients in the Emergency Room and perform urgent surgical procedures.
Candidate will cover 12-13 (12 hour) shifts per month.
