What you will do:
As a Hospice & Palliative Medicine Physician, you'll provide expert medical care to patients receiving hospice and palliative services across multiple settings. You'll collaborate closely with the Hospice Medical Director and interdisciplinary group to ensure high-quality, comfort-focused care for patients and families.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and certify patient eligibility for hospice admission and recertification.
Provide direct patient care, assessments, and palliative consults in the Hospice House, homes, hospitals, and long-term care settings.
Collaborate with the IDG and attending physicians to develop individualized plans of care.
Support hospice staff, patients, families, and providers with expert pain and symptom management guidance.
Serve as clinical coverage in the absence of the attending physician or Hospice Medical Director.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical protocol development, and staff education.
Act as a liaison with community providers and promote understanding of hospice and palliative care.
Ensure care delivery meets regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
What you will bring:
MD or DO required, with post-graduate training in a primary care field or public health.
Minimum two years of clinical practice; experience in oncology, hospice, or palliative care preferred.
Current state licensure; board certified/eligible in a primary care specialty.
Board certified or eligible in Hospice & Palliative Medicine (must become certified within 4 years).

The position will be scheduled for between 30-40 weeks per calendar year, the amount to be determined by the Psychiatrist. This role is integral in allowing for continuity of high-quality patient care, across MHBH, as it provides coverage to support the team during vacations, leaves or other times when additional staffing is needed. Board Certification
Credentialed by the MDI Hospital Medical Staff to practice Psychiatry
Maintains membership in the Active Medical Staff at MDI Hospital in good standing
DEA certified

On-call duty: 1 week on, 1 week off (7-day stretches)
If on call Friday, see patients until noon; if not, Friday is a free day

Travel and perform exams at VES leased facility
Schedule Veterans within your own practice

Quick credentialing & onboarding
Use of Goniometer required
