Responsibilities include direct patient care, program development, resident supervision, medical student teaching, and scholarly activities. Faculty will participate in creating and implementing the educational and clinical training sites of the developing Medical School. The UTRGV SOM has a residency program in psychiatry and will be adding child/adolescent psychiatry fellowship. These programs are conceptualized as being natural extensions of the medical school experience with the goals of providing both general and specialized didactic and clinical experiences to produce well rounded, skilled psychiatrists and child/ adolescent psychiatrists who can work with a range of problems and types of populations in diverse settings.
