A Hospitalist Physician is responsible for the general medical care of hospitalized patients. The role includes diagnosing, treating, and coordinating care for patients during their hospital stay, working closely with specialists, nurses, and support staff to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care. The candidate should have excellent clinical judgment and diagnostic skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate is committed to patient-centered, evidence-based care.
Specialty backup includes surgeons to perform central line insertions, respiratory therapists, Emergency Medicine physicians and CRNAs. Brattleboro Memorial Hospital will consider J1-Visa candidates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provide direct care and management for hospitalized patients, including admissions, daily rounds, and discharges.
* Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
* Coordinate and collaborate with specialists, primary care physicians, and ancillary services.
* Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and laboratory work.
* Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and outcomes in the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely and thorough manner.
* Respond to emergencies and provide resuscitative care as needed (e.g., codes, rapid response).
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives, hospital committees, and performance evaluations.
* Provide education and guidance to patients and their families regarding medical conditions and care plans.
