The role allows for flexibility for when examinations are conducted. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The outpatient Psychologist primarily provides diagnostic evaluations for children and adolescents suspected of having Autism Spectrum Disorder, including the following: Gathering history through interviews with parents/caregivers and review of prior records. ? Administering standardized intellectual assessments, the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition (ADOS-2) and/or the Childhood Autism Rating Scale, 2nd Edition (CARS-2), and parent and teacher rating scales as needed. Scoring and interpretation of these psychological assessment measures. Writing high-quality comprehensive evaluation reports including client's history, test and questionnaire data, clinical formulation, diagnosis, and recommendations specific to ASD. Providing feedback to parents and caregivers regarding evaluation results, diagnosis, and recommendations.
The OP Clinical Psychologist engages in care coordination and treatment planning on behalf of evaluated clients and their families. For example, completing referrals for additional services, collecting collateral from providers via phone, and participating in Planning and Placement Team meetings if needed.
School consultation and independent evaluations through school contracts including psychological evaluation, school-based observations, providing feedback to family and school team, and participation in PPT meetings.
The outpatient Psychologist will also be expected to provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy to patients with known ASD, grounded in behavioral, cognitive behavioral, or family systems theory.
The Psychologist provides in-services about ASD to hospital staff and community partners as requested.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong time-management. Completes documentation in the medical record and billing in a timely manner and in keeping with internal policy and professional standards.

Job Summary

* Coordinate/Collaborate with Maloney for Mental Health pre-service and ongoing staff training;
* Collaborate with Mental Health leadership to develop ongoing training opportunities for Mental Health staff;
* Serve as Mental Health liaison for area Universities and Graduate Training programs in Mental Health;
* Develop and implement training curriculum for all Agency Mental Health Trainees and coordinate training activities with other training personnel throughout the Agency.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)
In state facilities this class is accountable for supervising a comprehensive psychology or multidisciplinary clinical program with its own services and staff.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
* Supervises a comprehensive psychology or multidisciplinary clinical program;
* Provides clinical consultation on complex cases;
* Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff;
* Provides staff training and assistance;
* Conducts performance evaluations;
* Determines priorities and plans program work;
* Establishes and maintains program procedures;
* Develops or make recommendations on development of policies and standards;
* Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding program policies and procedures;
* Prepares reports and correspondence;
* Addresses professional and lay groups;
* May design, implement and/or direct psychological research programs;
* May direct an intern training program including the selection of candidates and organization of an educational plan;
* May act as the assistant to the Director of Psychological Services;
* May represent Director of Psychological Services in their absence;
* Performs related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
* Considerable knowledge of
* abnormal and clinical psychology and other psychological disciplines;
* sources, uses, administration, and interpretation of a wide variety of psychological tests;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
A Doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology and three (3) years of post-doctoral experience as a licensed clinical psychologist.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience with providing supervision to graduate level mental health students;
* Experience providing administrative leadership to behavioral health trainees;
* Experience providing education and/or training to large audiences;
* Experience working within graduate level clinical training programs;
* Experience developing and implementing educational or clinical programs.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
* Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license to practice psychology in Connecticut. Any person employed by the State of Connecticut prior to July 1, 1985 with a title in the psychology series of the classified service shall be exempt from the above licensure requirements pursuant to Public Act 613, Section 119 (c). For certain positions, the appointing authority may require State licensure.
* Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. ยง 1320a-7b(f).
* Incumbents in this class may be required to be fluent in a foreign language or proficient in the use of the American Sign Language.
* Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
