Assists the clinical program manager in the design and development of programs and effective strategies that demonstrate positive outcomes for various populations, including those that have been historically underserved or inappropriately served as a result of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, and other factors.
Leads in the selection of new professional personnel in psychology, including trainees and psychology interns.
Supervises psychological testing programs and evaluative research relevant to the functions of the mental health program or clinic.
Functions independently in providing mental health consultation and education, individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and other psychological services.
May participate in the supervision and routine operations of a program or clinic.
May provide testimony before courts of law regarding results of psychological evaluations, as appropriate.
May intervene with clients to enhance their ability to fully participate in treatment, including defining treatment goals and designing intervention strategies that support recovery and resiliency.

The compensation and pension exam helps the VA answer questions about Veterans' current health.
The practitioners will not decide the percent of disability or rating, develop treatment plans, or prescribe medication.
Completed documentation is sent to the VA for final determination on all disability claims.
Prior to the exam, the practitioner reviews a Veteran's medical or mental health history, using electronic bookmarks that highlight the portions applicable to the Veteran's claimed condition.

Psychologist job in Patton Village, CA
Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least one (1) Limited Term, Full-time Psychologist position. This limited term position is for a Forensic Fellow. The Forensic Fellow works under the administrative direction of the Chief Psychologist and the local Senior Psychologist Supervisor/Psychology Training Director.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to:
* Select, administer, score, and interpret forensic assessment instruments and complete comprehensive forensic assessments for patients who are incompetent to stand trial, not guilty by reason of insanity, and individuals committed to the hospital under California's Offender with a Mental Disorder statute. Assess forensic patients and make recommendations on admission and discharge and on therapeutic activities.
* Conduct various forms of individual and group psychotherapy, including behavior modification and specialized treatment modalities such as DBT and interventions for cognitively impaired patients. Conduct discipline-specific group treatment relevant to forensic psychology (e.g., trial competency groups; violence relapse prevention groups).
* Testify in court regarding forensic assessments and patient status.
* Consult with medical personnel regarding forensic patient status; write reports to the courts regarding patient progress, competency, and dangerousness.
* Participate in treatment team, staff, and professional meetings. Participate in training programs as a supervisor for interns and/or practicum students.
* Work collaboratively with other disciplines. Communicate effectively.
* Observe and intervene in instances of disruptive and assaultive behavior.
* Initiate, design, collaborate, and report on psychological research or program evaluation; may write articles for publication; may compile and analyze statistics.
The successful candidate must possess advanced knowledge of:
* Forensic assessment principles.
* Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychologists
* Administration and interpretation of Forensic Assessment instruments and Forensically Relevant Instruments.
* Psychological theories and research; principles, techniques, and problems in developing and coordinating a specialized psychological treatment program.
* Principles, techniques, and trends in psychology with particular reference to normal and disordered behavior.
* Human development, motivation, personality and individual differences, adaptation, and social interaction.
* Methods for the assessment and modification of human behavior, including forensic assessment methods and instruments.
* Characteristics and social aspects of mental disorders, research methodology and program evaluation.
* Institutional and social process, group dynamics.
* Functions of psychologists in various mental health services.
* Current trends in the field of forensic psychology, metal health, and professional training, community organization and allied professional services.
Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology is required prior to beginning this position.
