    Job Announcement This position works within our Youth and Family Division. Provides psychological services to Court involved youths. Primary duties involve psychological evaluations, mental health assessments, risk assessments and emergency assessments to youth, and consultation to youths' families and Court professional staff. Prepares written reports of test results which includes psychological interpretations, diagnoses, and recommendations for review. Administers, scores, and interprets a variety of objective psychological tests (intelligence, achievements, interests, and personalities) and projective techniques for diagnostic purposes. May occasionally lead trainings with JDRDC or CSB staff. Mentally and manually records patients' behavior from observation; Prepares written reports of test results which includes psychological interpretations, diagnoses, and recommendations for review by the pediatrician or clinic director; Attends staff conferences to provide and interpret psychological test data for use in the diagnosis of the patients' problems, care, and treatment; May serve as a member of a psychiatric team in the evaluation and treatment of mental illnesses, emotional and behavioral disorders; Counsels the patients' families in the areas of acceptance, the current and anticipated development of the patients, and future planning of the family units; Informs the pediatrician of unusual problems presented during test administration; May assist in health center in-service training programs and clinic public relations programs through lectures, demonstrations, or other devices of instruction or communication; As designated by the Court: administers, scores and interprets a variety of objective psychological tests (intelligence, achievements, interests, reading, and personalities) and projective techniques for diagnostic purposes in an appropriate setting for juveniles and adults; Analyzes the results of tests, interviews, and obtains social histories of the individual; Submits psychological evaluations to the Court and makes recommendations regarding the individual's risk factors, mental status, competency and level of care needed; May appear in Court to testify as requested; Conducts independent evaluations of adults and minors who have been involuntarily hospitalized under a court-issued Temporary Detention Order; Conducts comprehensive clinical evaluations, comprehensive risk assessment and written reports; Provide psychoeducation regarding treatment needs, risk assessment, and other clinical information to client and parties involved in the involuntary detention process. Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possession of a doctorate degree in clinical psychology from an accredited college or university. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSURES REQUIRED: Possession of a current license to practice as a Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia. CPR/First Aid (Required within 3 months) NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, a Child Protective Services Registry check, and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A TB screening upon hire and annually thereafter. This position is emergency/essential services personnel. (Required to report for duty during inclement weather and/or other emergencies.)
