We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Licensed Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team, providing essential mental health services to first responders, including police officers and firefighters. In this role, you will provide psychological assessments, individual therapy, crisis intervention, and therapeutic services to help first responders manage the psychological demands of their challenging and high-stress work. The ideal candidate will be skilled in trauma-informed care, able to work collaboratively within a team, and passionate about supporting the mental health of those who serve their communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Psychological Assessment & Evaluation:
Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for first responders to identify mental health conditions such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, and stress-related disorders. Provide clear, actionable recommendations for treatment and care plans.
Pre-Employment Evaluations:
Conduct pre-employment psychological evaluations for prospective first responders, assessing their psychological suitability for the demands of high-stress, first responder roles. This includes evaluating cognitive and emotional resilience, stress tolerance, and overall mental health fitness for the position. Provide detailed reports and recommendations based on evaluation results.
Individual & Group Therapy:
Provide evidence-based individual therapy, group counseling, and psychoeducation tailored to first responders needs. Address psychological challenges such as trauma, anxiety, burnout, and coping with critical incidents.
Crisis Intervention:
Respond to immediate mental health crises and offer debriefing services following traumatic events. Offer rapid psychological support to mitigate emotional distress and prevent long-term psychological effects.
Trauma-Informed Care:
Utilize evidence-based, trauma-informed practices to address the psychological impact of exposure to traumatic events. Employ techniques suited for first responders unique needs, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), EMDR, and mindfulness-based therapies.
Collaboration with Multidisciplinary Team:
Work closely with a diverse team of clinicians, peer support specialists, and program administrators to provide coordinated care. Participate in regular team meetings, case discussions, and contribute to comprehensive treatment planning.
Education & Training:
Lead educational workshops and provide training to first responders on mental health topics such as stress management, emotional resilience, coping mechanisms, and maintaining overall well-being.
Resource Coordination:
Help connect first responders to relevant community resources and mental health programs, including support groups, therapy options, and wellness initiatives.
Confidentiality & Documentation:
Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations. Ensure timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant materials.
Wellness & Prevention:
Contribute to the development and implementation of wellness programs focused on preventing burnout and promoting mental health. Assist with organizing retreats, debriefings, and other supportive services for first responders.
Qualifications:
Required Education & Licensing:
Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an accredited institution.
Active Licensed Psychologist credential in the state of North Carolina.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for occasional field visits and outreach.
Experience:
At least 2 years of clinical experience in the field of psychology, with a focus on trauma, crisis intervention, or mental health counseling.
Experience providing mental health services to high-risk populations, particularly first responders or individuals in similar high-stress occupations, is highly preferred.
Familiarity with trauma-informed care and the psychological effects of first responder work, including post-traumatic stress, burnout, and vicarious trauma.
Skills & Competencies:
Proficient in a range of therapeutic modalities, such as CBT, EMDR, and other trauma-focused interventions.
Ability to assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of mental health disorders.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to develop rapport and trust with clients in high-stress environments.
Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of relevant community resources and wellness programs for first responders.

Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for individuals suspected of having ASD. Activities will include conducting, scoring, interpreting, assessment measures as well as providing oral and written feedback of their results.
Utilize experience in administering autism-specific assessments such as the ADOS-2 and the Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R). As well as experience with administration and interpretation of tools that assess:

Centria's Licensed Clinical Psychologist should have a specialization in early identification, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related neurodevelopmental disorders from birth through 21 years. The Licensed Psychologist will be well-trained, possess a PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology, school psychology, or a related field, and have completed an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship. This role should have clinical training/background in early intervention programs, the administration of multiple standardized assessments, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition (ADOS-2).
Compensation: earn a base salary of $125,000-$145,000.
Success Measures
Success measures include adherence to Centria policies, quality standards, compliance with company and payor requirements, and meeting or exceeding personal qualitative and/or quantitative key performance indicator (KPI) metrics (e.g., productivity goals).
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for individuals suspected of having ASD. Activities will include conducting, scoring, interpreting, assessment measures as well as providing oral and written feedback of their results.
Utilize experience in administering autism-specific assessments such as the ADOS-2 and the Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R). As well as experience with administration and interpretation of tools that assess:
Developmental, intellectual, or cognitive functioning; and
Adaptive functioning; and
Social functioning; and
Speech, language, and communicative functioning; and
Medical and neurological functioning.
Provide sensitive, thoughtful, and supportive feedback to parents as well as the ability to work well with team members, parents, young children, and colleagues in the community. The Licensed Psychologist may also be involved in consultation and program development with community providers, schools, and interdisciplinary clinical and research teams.
Highly motivated to increase both professional skills and knowledge in providing evidence-based and family centered care, and interacting successfully with those from diverse cultural, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.
