The Clinical psychologist will play a critical role in supporting transplant candidates, recipients, and their families through psychological assessment, treatment, and ongoing care. Job Responsibility
+ Functions as a primary therapist and member of an interdisciplinary team; provides patient care, individual or group, in accordance with accepted principles of psychotherapy.
+ Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations for transplant candidates (e.g., liver, kidney, heart, lung) to assess readiness, psychosocial risk factors, and suitability for transplantation.
+ Offer crisis intervention and support for patients experiencing psychological distress, adjustment difficulties, anxiety, depression, or substance use issues.
+ Deliver evidence-based psychotherapy (e.g., CBT, ACT, motivational interviewing) to help patients manage chronic illness, adherence, and lifestyle changes.Administers psychological assessments and interprets results to determine nature of problem(s) and recommend treatment necessary.
+ Presents treatment plan and educates patient, family, and related hospital staff of procedures in a manner consistent with level of understanding.
+ Provide psychological support and counseling to patients and families throughout the transplant process, including pre-evaluation, waiting list, surgery, and post-operative stages.
+ Evaluates care provided for positive patient outcomes.
+ Documents patient interventions according to department and hospital policies and procedures.

What You'll Do
We are looking for a licensed psychologist to join our team who is experienced administering, interpreting, and writing psychological assessments to either children or adults.

Duties Description Rockland Children's Psychiatric Center is currently recruiting a Licensed Psychologist to provide professional psychological services to individuals with mental illness.
Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
Psychologists at Rockland Psychiatric Center are part of an interdisciplinary treatment team and provide assessment and treatment to individuals with mental illness including:
* Providing clinical leadership and program management
* Conducting forensic or court-ordered assessments
* Providing treatment and expert testimony
* Providing individual, group, or family therapy and crisis intervention
* Maintaining records and documentation
Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are licensed and currently registered to practice Psychology in New York State.

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

The salary of $145,413 includes a Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000), an Increased Hiring Rate ($25,077), and a Downstate Adjustment ($4,000).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting behavioral health assessments; providing individual and group treatment; and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Regional Neonatal Follow up Program seeks one per diem Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience in early childhood development, and the administration of neurodevelopmental testing for this age group (0-3 years). Fluent in Spanish preferred.
Primary Responsibility: Administering, scoring and interpreting the results of the Bayley Scales of Infant & Toddler Development 3rd edition (BSID 3RD ed) and or 4th edition (BSID IV) for children seen within our program. Flexibility to expand proficiency of testing expertise utilizing other diagnostic kits such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, second edition would be preferred. Our program does participate in NIH as well as industry sponsored research with long term outcomes utilizing tools such as the BSID 3rd ed included in the study protocol, to be performed by the successful candidate.
Patient Population: Primarily two and three-year-old term and preterm children who were formerly admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit after birth. These children were identified as being at increased risk for neurodevelopmental impairment.

In general, the Psychologist will serve as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team for the purpose of optimizing whole-person health and wellness, and will independently diagnose and treat behavioral health disorders and aspects of psychological adjustment. Specific to the Debra Simon Center, patients present with the full range of DSM diagnoses, and are often subject to compound stressors and comorbid medical conditions. The psychologist will be expected to participate in all phases of the outpatient process (outlined below). The specific scope of practice will be articulated in the delineation of privileges as issued in the process of appointment to the Medical Staff. The Psychiatry Department at HUMC offers focused, evidence-based treatments for their patients (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT, etc.), and the hired psychologist is expected to play a significant role in facilitating this delivery, including training and supervising junior clinical staff in these approaches.
