MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of the education and experience for the appropriate specialty (Clinical, Counseling, Educational, Experimental, or Social) as outlined in Section 1396 of the Board of Psychology's Regulations.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience working at, DSH, CONREP, CDCR, County Jail, Locked LPS Hospital, IMD or similar facility.

DEFINITION:
Assists in and learns to apply techniques and principles of clinical psychology in a formal training program.
CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS:
Positions allocable to this trainee class work under the close supervision of licensed psychologists, in accordance with requirements as set forth by the State Board of Psychology. Incumbents are assigned to a program designed to provide a comprehensive and intensive overview of the methods, processes, and procedures for providing psychological services to an established client base, in order to gain practical experience and learn psychological techniques in the field of clinical psychology. Clinical Psychology Intern is distinguished from Clinical Psychologist I in that the latter serves as a Post-Doctoral staff psychologist under close supervision to provide the full range of psychological services relating to the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric and co-occurring disorders.
Learns the mission and functions of County institutions and their relationship to the community.
Learns the purpose, methods, and related functions of the treatment program.
Attends seminars,in-service training classes, and lectures to become familiar with various psychological and medical conditions and appropriate treatment services and functions.
Participates in staff discussions of the applications of psychological principles and techniques and presents case histories.
Interviews incoming clients, reviews medical and psychosocial histories, and prepares appropriate intake documentation.
Administers and participates in the interpretation of a range of psychological, cognitive, developmental, aptitude, and vocational-interest tests for purposes of diagnosis, treatment, and providing vocational counseling.
Participates in the development of psychological treatment plans and develops and maintains written client case histories integrating test interpretations.
Provides supervised psychological counseling and psychotherapy to clients.
Collects measurable outcomes data on clients receiving treatment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Current enrollment in a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS:
2 - Light.
Special Requirement Information:
Candidates must provide proof of enrollment in a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology accredited by the American Psychology Association with your application at the time of filing.
Examination Content:
This examination will consist of an evaluation of training and experience based upon application information, weighted at 100%. Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher to be placed on the eligible register.

Eligibility Information:
The names of candidates receiving a passing grade on the examination will be added to the eligible register and, will appear in the order of their score group for a period of at least twelve (12) months following the date of eligibility. No person may compete in this examination more than once every twelve (12) months.
