CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS

LICENSE

FPFS is the clinic of the Fuller School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy (SoPMFT).
The FPFS Clinical Psychologist will provide supervision and/or consultation to student clinicians working at Fuller Psychological & Family Services (FPFS), both individually and in groups. The Clinical Psychologist will also provide therapy to individuals, couples, and families. Additionally, he/she will teach at least one course annually within the school of psychology and participate in the development and implementation of the clinic's strategy. This is a full-time position that will report to the FPFS Director of Training.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborating with FPFS's Executive Director and Director of Training, the Clinical Psychologist will engage in the following activities:
Supervision and consultation
Provide group/individual supervision, consultation, and evaluation to several clinic trainees
Teaching
Teach at least one class in the doctoral program of the School of Psychology & Marriage and Family Therapy
Administration
Participate in the recruitment and selection of trainees working in the clinic
Help develop and implement the clinic's vision, mission, and strategy
Participate in weekly staff meetings led by the Executive Director and the Director of Training
Direct services to clients
Provide at least 10 hours of psychotherapy weekly to clients provided by FPFS
Qualifications
Degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited institution
Licensed, in good standing, for at least two years
Supervisory experience in a mental health clinical setting
Experience providing psychotherapy to diverse populations
Experience teaching graduate-level psychology courses
Knowledge of California laws, requirements, and ethics surrounding the provision of clinical training and the practice of psychotherapy

Summary
As a Psychologist (internally referred to as a Lead Psychologist) at Didi Hirsch, you will be tasked with conducting comprehensive psychological assessments for clients with a history of mental illness to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. At least 50% of the role focuses on performing and supervising these assessments, while the remaining time is dedicated to providing direct therapy services and consultation. Responsibilities include crisis intervention, intake assessments, and individual, group, and family therapy for adults with mental health challenges. Additionally, the role entails offering professional consultation to staff regarding psychological assessments and diagnoses.
Primary Duties
May supervise psychology interns, practicum students, and possible staff on psychological testing as well as therapy.
May assist in APA internship program though prospective intern interviews and application reviews.
Provides professional consultation to multidisciplinary staff regarding complex differential diagnostic conditions, psychological and/or neuropsychological test results, cognitive and learning delays, and outcome measures.
Provides training to clinical staff (as needed) on the administration and interpretation of clinical symptom assessment instruments such as depression and anxiety inventories, rating scales for ADHD symptoms and mental status examinations.
Achieves proficiency in two or more evidenced-based practices, and applies these in therapy with seriously mentally ill clients.
Interfaces and collaborates with referring clinicians regarding the referral process and rationale for psychological assessment.
Consults with staff regarding psychological assessments completed by outside institutions or individuals.
Administers psychological tests including structured clinical interviews; tests of intelligence, cognitive screens, and specific tests of cognitive and neuropsychological function including memory and executive functions.
Focuses assessments explicitly on referral questions, utilizing instruments appropriate for the client.
Administers, scores, and interprets tests and interviews that are current and whose validity and reliability have been established for use with members of the population to which the client belongs (including language competence).
Identifies interpretive strengths and limitations, considering various test factors, test-taking abilities and characteristics of client such as situational, personal, linguistic, and cultural differences that could affect the assessment's accuracy.
Prepares written assessment reports at the level of the report consumer, individualized to the unique attributes of the client including his/her strengths; makes concrete, pragmatic recommendations that address treatment planning and the referral question.
Provides feedback on referral questions to the referring clinician and client and/or family, tailored to their level of understanding.
Makes recommendations for the purchase of assessment instruments, keeping up to date on instrument revisions.
Maintains the security of assessment manuals, instruments, protocols and test questions.
Documents client services, ensuring compliance with Agency policies and procedures, Department of Mental Health contract and other related agencies' standards and guidelines.
Participates in officer-of-the-day duty coverage and twenty-four hour on call coverage (if applicable).
Develops and maintains professional assessment skills through seminars, workshops, or other forms of training/education related to working with adults with a history of mental illness.
Attends and participates in program, Agency staff meetings; and related community agency meetings as required/requested.
Position Requirements
Must be a CA licensed psychologist; 2+ years post licensure preferred.
Must have a strong working knowledge/experience in psychological assessment, including test selection, administration, interpretation and report-writing.
A working knowledge of psychological assessment in mental health including understanding of diagnostic concepts and assessment correlates of particular psychopathologies including psychiatric syndromes, personality disorders, and cognitive dysfunctions as well as those of malingering.
Minimum of 2+ years of experience working with adults with a history of mental illness in a social service/mental health environment.
Willing to travel between agency sites to provide services, and work in a variety of settings, including outpatient, home-based and field-based.
Experience as a clinical supervisor preferred.
Must possess knowledge of research and statistics.
Working knowledge of Agency policies and procedures, HIPAA, DMH, Department of Social Services, and other state/federal regulations relating to mental health services.
Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Personal computer skills including word processing, electronic health record, spreadsheets, and other related software.
Ability to use analysis, experience, and judgment to make effective decisions.

Common referrals include extreme Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, food selectivity/rigidity, weight loss, failure to gain weight, and behavioral difficulties related to mealtimes. The team consists of psychologists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, registered dietitians, a developmental behavioral pediatrician and a case manager. Opportunities exist to build new collaborative relationships with medical clinics at CHLA. The psychologist will be responsible for providing the following: individual, family and group therapy using evidence-based psychological interventions; case management services; school advocacy; home/school visits as clinically indicated; and coordination of care with medical teams at CHLA related to specific clients on the psychologist's caseload. Completes psychological/developmental assessments as needed. Provides assessment as part of the interdisciplinary feeding team and conducts behavioral observations as part of this assessment in order to identify strengths and challenges related to feeding development. Future opportunities also exist for supervision in our APA-accredited internship and fellowship programs. **Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:** Supervised professional experience providing therapy to a pediatric psychology population is required. Previous consultation and liaison experience within a medical setting is strongly preferred. This residential program provides court and parole mandated treatment and supervision to individuals committed as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, Offender with a Mental Health Disorder, or Incompetent to Stand Trial.
The STRP clinical team is a leader in providing compassionate and effective mental health treatment, and risk management to under-served and over-represented populations in forensic settings. As a member of the team, you will have access to a leadership team comprised of seasoned experts who are invested in each team member's professional growth and access to a robust didactic training program that has been expanded to other CONREP programs throughout California. Gateways Satellite offers mental health professionals a unique professional environment where staff are stimulated, challenged, and supported in the work they do.

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Forensic Clinician - Psychologist must have a Psy.D. or Ph.D., from an accredited university and be licensed or license eligible. The responsibilities of the position include providing forensically focused individual and group therapy, home visits, crisis intervention, case management services, and urine screens, to an adult forensic population. Documentation on all services provided must be submitted within 24-hours of service delivery. Clinical staff participates in all meetings and supervision activities. Assists with any other project as indicated by the Program Director or Program Coordinator as needed. Must maintain a clear criminal record for continued employment eligibility.
