Contract Description/Overview:
Your services support the Veterans Benefits Administration Medical Disabilities Examinations program. Veterans are scheduled for appointments at contracted facilities for compensation and pension exams and embeds practitioners in facilities as needs warrant. Dedicated facilities are in areas where there is a large Veteran population with the potential for high volume.
The compensation and pension exam helps the VA answer questions about Veterans' current health.
The practitioners will not decide the percent of disability or rating, develop treatment plans, or prescribe medication.
Completed documentation is sent to the VA for final determination on all disability claims.
Prior to the exam, the practitioner reviews a Veteran's medical or mental health history, using electronic bookmarks that highlight the portions applicable to the Veteran's claimed condition.
The practitioner is guided through a web-based examination form in LHI's Provider Portal to capture the Veteran's responses during the exam.
Electronic exam documentation is known as a Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) and must be submitted promptly within 48 hours of each appointment.
The number of DBQs completed per exam will vary based on the Veteran's claimed conditions.
Administrative time is provided to complete exam documentation and ensure timely submission.
The documentation is reviewed by a team of medical professionals to ensure contract compliance and guarantee the verbiage aligns with customer requirements.
Requests for changes or corrections to exam documentation must be submitted within 48 hours of the appointment.
Review pertinent medical history documentation and provide one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams for Veterans.
The Practitioner will capture responses during the exam through a web-based examination form; all documentation will be completed electronically.
Completed exams are sent to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for disability award determinations.
TBI exams are scheduled in 90+ minutes for a comprehensive exam to assess motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries and for very few, combat exposure.
Diagnostic testing may include Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) testing, if clinically indicated, and neuropsychological testing; any neuropsychological testing will be referred to a neuropsychologist.
Education/Qualifications
Qualified candidates must be a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitations (PM&R) or Neurology, with experience in evaluating for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). **Must be BC/BE in Specialty

Position Summary:
Position responsible for identifying, triaging and co-managing patients with medical and behavioral health problems within the primary care setting by providing the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model. The PCBH model is designed to provide population-based care services within the setting of primary care. Your contribution to the team includes:
Collaborate with primary care providers and other team members in recognizing and treating mental health conditions, substance use/misuse. subclinical presentations of distress, psychosocial problems, promoting preventive medicine interventions, chronic condition management, and other behavioral needs of our patient population.
Given primary care can be a fast pace, high needs environment, a BHC needs to be able to provide population-based health approaches to behavioral health care which includes: Establishing behavioral health services within the clinic as routine patient care, assessing and triaging patient care in the teachable moment (when patients are engaging medical team members, called a warm handoff), balance scheduled visits with warm handoff opportunities so that behavioral health services are assessable to all, engage in brief assessments/screeners to assess a patient level of functioning and possible risk level, and be a generalist (work with all patients of our healthcare system no matter the age or clinical need).
Work with primary care providers to refer cases to mental health specialists as appropriate and bridge care to these patients until patient is successful in connecting with more traditional mental health services.
Provide brief behavioral health visits modeled after the pace and needs of primary care. The PCBH model goal is to reach more patients and have a larger impact on our patient community. A typical scheduled visit is for behavioral health is about 30 minutes in length while warm handoff visits can vary from 15 minutes to 30 minutes. Schedule follow-ups with patients based upon clinical need while keeping access to behavioral health services in mind.
Be effective in communication with team members about patient care including providing consultation to primary care providers and other team members about assessments of patient care needs and recommended interventions.
Teach patients evidence supported interventions to assist in self-care, preventive medicine, quality of life improvement, and improved functionality. Equally important is to be an educator of these techniques to patients' families and primary care team members so they can assist in disseminating and reinforcing strategies as well. There are additional opportunities to participate in presentations to staff on behavioral health topics to assist in further opportunities to educate our teams.
Conduct, design and co-lead as needed group classes and group visits to promote skill building, education, and improved health for the patient.
Monitor the site's behavioral health program, identifying problems related to patient services, making recommendations for quality improvement and clinical pathways, and identify linkages to beneficial community resources and external specialty services.
Attend and participate in behavioral health meetings, site meetings, and Quality Improvement activities as required.
Respond to patient or co-worker complaints and work toward a positive resolution of any dispute.
Serve as a member of site committees as requested.
Participate in evaluation of peers, support staff, and supervisor as required.
Provide assistance in the efforts to grow Behavioral Health services in the organization as required.
Assist in the evaluation of the behavioral health program: review utilization data, establish outcomes to measure quality of life improvements, and cost effectiveness of population-based programming.
Support our Behavioral Health Education Program by being willing to provide mentorship to a trainee (pre-intern, intern, or resident) as well as provide some secondary individual and/or group supervision to trainees as needed. Your services support the Veterans Benefits Administration Medical Disabilities Examinations program. Veterans are scheduled for appointments at contracted facilities for compensation and pension exams and embeds practitioners in facilities as needs warrant. Dedicated facilities are in areas where there is a large Veteran population with the potential for high volume.
The compensation and pension exam helps the VA answer questions about Veterans' current health.
The practitioners will not decide the percent of disability or rating, develop treatment plans, or prescribe medication.
Completed documentation is sent to the VA for final determination on all disability claims.
Prior to the exam, the practitioner reviews a Veteran's medical or mental health history, using electronic bookmarks that highlight the portions applicable to the Veteran's claimed condition.
The practitioner is guided through a web-based examination form in LHI's Provider Portal to capture the Veteran's responses during the exam.
Electronic exam documentation is known as a Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) and must be submitted promptly within 48 hours of each appointment.
The number of DBQs completed per exam will vary based on the Veteran's claimed conditions.
Administrative time is provided to complete exam documentation and ensure timely submission.
The documentation is reviewed by a team of medical professionals to ensure contract compliance and guarantee the verbiage aligns with customer requirements.
Requests for changes or corrections to exam documentation must be submitted within 48 hours of the appointment.
Review pertinent medical history documentation and provide one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams for Veterans.
The Practitioner will capture responses during the exam through a web-based examination form; all documentation will be completed electronically.
Completed exams are sent to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for disability award determinations.
Behavior Health exams are scheduled in 90+ minutes for a comprehensive exam for assessing PTSD, depression, anxiety and eating disorders.
•• Exam submission must be completed online, but no typing is necessary while the Veteran is present; time is provided throughout the day for dictation to ensure the flow of the patient interview is not disrupted.
Education/Qualifications

This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary consultation team to support high-acuity adult psychiatric inpatients experiencing severe mental disorders and challenging behaviors. School Psychologists conduct assessments (intelligence, achievement, functional, behavioral, social, emotional, and curriculum-based assessment); interpret results for special education eligibility and individual educational needs; provide case management and coordination; provide crisis intervention to students when appropriate; provide input for group and individual counseling and social skills and training as indicated on IEPs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Valid Washington State ESA certification in school psychology.
* Master's Degree in Psychology or School Psychology preferred.
* Demonstrated desire and ability to collaborate through work and communication with staff, students and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/CHARACTERISTICS
* Knowledge of state and federal legislation for disabilities (WAC 392-171, IDEA 2004, Section 504, etc.)
* Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, with staff, students and families.
* Evidence of leadership skills, positive human relationship skills and time management skills.
* Demonstrated ability to administer standardized tests.
* Ability to lead collaboration and integration strategies.
* Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel between buildings.
* Ability to function as an effective member of the Multi-disciplinary Team.
* Possess working knowledge of Washington State Rules and Regulations for disabled students.
* Experience working with youth involved with the justice system.
* Experience leading teams in manifestation determinations, functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans.
* Ability to identify individual student needs and develop effective recommendations for the multi-disciplinary team.
* Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel between buildings.
