Contract Description/Overview:
Your services support the Veterans Benefits Administration Medical Disabilities Examinations program. Veterans are scheduled for appointments at contracted facilities for compensation and pension exams and embeds practitioners in facilities as needs warrant. Dedicated facilities are in areas where there is a large Veteran population with the potential for high volume.
· The compensation and pension exam helps the VA answer questions about Veterans' current health.
The practitioners will not decide the percent of disability or rating, develop treatment plans, or prescribe medication.
· Completed documentation is sent to the VA for final determination on all disability claims.
· Prior to the exam, the practitioner reviews a Veteran's medical or mental health history, using electronic bookmarks that highlight the portions applicable to the Veteran's claimed condition.
· The practitioner is guided through a web-based examination form in LHI's Provider Portal to capture the Veteran's responses during the exam.
· Electronic exam documentation is known as a Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) and must be submitted promptly within 48 hours of each appointment.
· The number of DBQs completed per exam will vary based on the Veteran's claimed conditions.
· Administrative time is provided to complete exam documentation and ensure timely submission.
· The documentation is reviewed by a team of medical professionals to ensure contract compliance and guarantee the verbiage aligns with customer requirements.
· Requests for changes or corrections to exam documentation must be submitted within 48 hours of the appointment.
· Review pertinent medical history documentation and provide one-time, non-treatment compensation and pension exams for Veterans.
· The Practitioner will capture responses during the exam through a web-based examination form; all documentation will be completed electronically.
· Completed exams are sent to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for disability award determinations.
· Behavior Health exams are scheduled in 90+ minutes for a comprehensive exam for assessing PTSD, depression, anxiety and eating disorders.
Exam submission must be completed online, but no typing is necessary while the Veteran is present; time is provided throughout the day for dictation to ensure the flow of the patient interview is not disrupted.
Education/Qualifications
Qualified candidates must be a PhD or PsyD, with a major in Psychology, who graduated from a doctorate or post-doctorate APA accredited program or a BC/BE MD. Qualified candidates must be actively licensed and able to work independently and as part of a team, have good interpersonal skills and a willingness to be flexible and adapt to changing situations. Candidates must possess basic computer skills.

The University of Missouri Kansas City Counseling Services is looking for qualified candidates for a Training Coordinator/Staff Psychologist. This position will provide oversight of our APA accredited pre-doctoral internship and generalist duties of a staff psychologist as described below.
Training Coordinator:
* Administers training program in accordance with standards of accreditation and guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA); ensures adherence to standards of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).
* Assists with writing/preparing self-studies, facilitating site visits in person or over Zoom, gathering and preparing APA annual reporting data, communicating substantive changes to the Commission on Accreditation (CoA), and compiling and submitting evaluation data as required.
* Coordinates the internship selection process through the APPIC Match. Includes advertising, reviewing applications, interviewing, submitting a rank order list, on-boarding, maintaining contact with interns' home academic program, completing evaluations, sustaining records, etc.
* Organizes all intern activities including August orientation, and determination of special focus rotations, seminar leaders, professional development seminar speakers and schedules, and weekly Training Coordinator Meeting.
* Coordinates supervisory assignments for interns and practicum students, including providing administrative support and direction to clinical supervisors; communicating training-related policies and updates; facilitating bimonthly supervisors and staff meeting to solicit formal and informal feedback on interns' performances.
* Facilitates weekly group supervision/case conference for the doctoral intern cohort; providing additional clinical supervision and crisis supervision as needed.
* Schedules interns' formal presentations, including obtaining feedback from staff and other trainees.
* Obtains and compiles mid- and end-of-year performance-related evaluations of trainees and maintains trainee records, in accordance with accreditation standards and requirements.
* Maintains all training related public and internal materials annually and as needed, including training program website pages, program brochures and manuals, and training seminar syllabi, etc. in accordance with accreditation and national standards.
* Develops new training programs as needed and in accordance with Counseling Services' capacity.
* Maintains active memberships in the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies (ACCTA), and the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC)
* Evaluates the efficacy of the training program and implements appropriate changes and enhancements that satisfy accreditation requirements and the service needs of the Center.
* Oversees all aspects of the Counseling Services Masters/PhD Practicum Program. This includes advertising, reviewing of applications, conducting interviews, and selection process.
* Maintains training files on all Masters/PhD Practicum students and ensure semester evaluations are completed and returned to trainees' academic programs.
* Maintains professional relationships with local academic programs and inform them about our training opportunities, including attending practicum and master's internship informational meetings.

* Oversees remediation activities when necessary.

The primary clinical responsibilities for this position will include the evaluation and treatment of children and adolescents with eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder and related disorders) in an outpatient setting ( Eating Disorders Center ). The psychologist in this role will be part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team of adolescent medicine, behavioral health, and nutrition specialists who work together to provide integrated, comprehensive care. Our program implements evidence-based treatments for eating disorders, including CBT, DBT, FBT, CBT-AR and ACT. Opportunities to participate in program development initiatives, including planning for and implementation of an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), are available.
This position includes teaching in the hospital's pediatric medical and psychology training programs and protected academic time for service, research, and other scholarly activities. Faculty mentoring is available for those interested in clinical scholarship (e.g., program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives). Overview
The Division of Developmental and Behavioral Health and the Ward Family Heart Center at Children's Mercy Kansas City are seeking a psychologist to provide psychological services to our diverse cardiology population. The Thrive Program is an interdisciplinary program designed to support our heart center patients, families and staff.
We are developing an innovative integrated cardiac well-being program which will merge our existing Cardiac Neurodevelopmental (CND) program with our psychosocial services program (Thrive) to advance a model of comprehensive developmental and psychosocial care within the Ward Family Heart Center. This program includes pediatric psychology, pediatric neuropsychology, social work, palliative care, nutrition, PT/OT, speech/language pathology, and other allied healthcare providers. We are currently expanding the psychology services in this program through both pediatric psychology and neurodevelopmental psychology.
The Thrive Program currently has one pediatric psychologist who serves as the director of the Thrive Program and provides both inpatient and outpatient psychological services. This new position will involve primarily outpatient services to patients with congenital and acquired heart conditions through outpatient therapy, targeted assessment, and brief consultation in interdisciplinary clinics. Specific clinic involvement is open, although multiple multidisciplinary clinics exist [e.g. Preventive cardiology, Muscle Nerve clinic, Fontan follow-up, Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD)].
The ideal candidate will be a psychologist with broad training in pediatric psychology, health psychology and/or related fields in clinical child psychology. Strong therapy skills with a wide variety of ages and presenting emotional and behavioral concerns is preferred. The position will include teaching and supervising in the hospital's pediatric medical and psychology training programs, including our APA-accredited psychology internship and cardiology fellowship, and include protected academic time for program development, service, research, and other scholarly activities. Faculty mentoring is available for those interested in clinical scholarship (e.g., program evaluation, quality improvement initiatives). This position carries an academic appointment at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, with rank commensurate to qualifications and experience.
