THE ROLE:

Major Responsibilities:
1. Conduct culturally competent clinical and forensic services with children, adolescents, and families involved with the Massachusetts Juvenile Court.
2. Conduct court-ordered written evaluation reports for cases involving juvenile delinquency, child requiring assistance, parental fitness capacity for child abuse and neglect matters for care and protections, competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and involuntary mental health and substance use civil commitment hearings. Training is provided.
3. Conduct other evaluations such as psychosocial, substance use, violence risk, fire-setting, and sexual behavior risk-needs. Training is provided.
4. Provide same day emergency mental health evaluations for any court-referred youth.
5. Provide consultation to families, probation officers, judges, other treaters, schools, physicians, DCF, etc.
II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Minimum of doctorate in Psychology or Counselling Psychology.
2. Must be a licensed psychologist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
3. Must pursue and obtain CJCC I & II training as per statewide Juvenile Court Clinic Protocol.
4. Satisfactory CORI background check.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Demonstrated skill in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and other professionals.
2. Demonstrated skill and proficiency with psychological testing measures as needed to conduct forensic and clinical evaluations.
3. Ability to generate appropriate documentation of all forensic and clinical work that is consistent with forensic standards and agency policies.
4. Demonstrated skills that are consistent with the clinical and forensic standards of the Certified Juvenile Court Clinician training program.
Preferred:
1. Demonstrated skill in conducting culturally competent written forensic and mental health evaluations of children, adolescents, and families.
2. Demonstrated proficiency in consultation concerning court disposition and service planning and case management as needed.
3. Upon continued experience, and if qualified, mentor Certified Juvenile Court Clinician (CJCC) Candidates as a CJCC I & II Mentor.
III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Work is considered sedentary. Position requires work indoors in a normal office environment.
