POSITION OVERVIEW: The Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) works in a consultative role at the Center for Women's Health alongside a mix of physicians, certified nurse midwives, and women's health nurse practitioners, providing behavioral health assessments and interventions to patients. The BHC is an integral member of the Women's Health team whose role is to help address a broad spectrum of behavioral health needs in the Women's Health patient population. The BHC aids in early identification and provides brief, solution-focused interventions that promote wellness and prevention for as many patients as possible. The BHC provides same-day consultative services to primary care providers and patients for a broad array of behavioral health issues in the form of assessment, brief interventions, and triage of psychosocial problems in the clinic patient population. This position requires advanced skills in conducting brief assessments using a biopsychosocial model and delivering brief evidence-based interventions including psychoeducation, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Problems Solving Therapy, Behavioral Activation and other short-term solution-focused interventions. The goal is to improve overall health and quality of life of patients with a variety of physical, emotional, and behavioral needs. The BHC work also includes providing curbside consultations to primary care providers and providing recommendations to the primary care team to enhance the patient's care plan. When indicated, the BHC may also work with patients for a limited number of follow-up sessions to provide ongoing skills training and coaching to improve health and functioning. The BHC will also triage patients and help ensure smooth coordination of care with community partners for patients who require more intensive specialty services not provided in the primary care clinic. This is a full-time, 12 month position with the potential to be hired full time after residency and licensure. Our ideal candidates are those with experience in treating adults, or children and adolescents. The position duration can be extended if needed to accrue adequate licensing hours. Experience assessing and treating ADHD, mood, and anxiety disorders in an outpatient setting is highly preferred. Ideal candidates will have strong skills in differential diagnosis to rule in ADHD and rule out other mood, anxiety, developmental, or cognitive disorders. Experience in the administration of continuous performance tests and Weschler measures are a plus. Time management and accurate and concise documentation practices will help candidates excel in this position. Postdoctoral residents will spend a significant amount of time assessing patients for ADHD and other mood disorders. They will be responsible for administering the TOVA (Test of Variables of Attention) test, the Test of Memory Malingering (TOMM) and related measures on a weekly basis. Residents also lead a therapy group of their design weekly, and see an average of 20-25 patients per week in an outpatient setting. This position includes weekly interdisciplinary group consultation time and direct supervision from a licensed Psychologist. Opportunities to engage in research may be available. Every week, our psychologist residents participate in didactics, interdisciplinary treatment team meetings, and at least 2 hours of individual supervision with a licensed psychologist. Eligible candidates must have a PsyD or PhD in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program. APA-accredited internship is highly prefered. Dissertation must be complete to apply; ABD applications will not be considered. Applicants must be in an approved Residency Contract with the Oregon Board of Psychology prior to beginning clinical work; a position offer will be revoked if an individual is unable to enter an Oregon Board of Psychology approved Residency Contract. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to assess and treat ADHD, work as an effective interdisciplinary team member, and maintain patient confidentiality and documentation in compliance with state, federal, professional, and ethical guidelines.
